    Fixing plaster over conduit

David E, The type of nails FWL_Engineer mentioned are light grey in colour, have a head about 8-10mm in diameter and the nail body is about 3-4 mm in diameter. If you look in somewhere like B&Q they will be called Roofing or Roofers nails.

    New Computer.

andrew, I agree with the comment, 99% of my computers are built by me, but you need the knowledge to ensure that it continues working as you have no back-up to resolve problems. I think a lot will depend on BAHCO's technical knowledge and time to do the task.

    Info Pax

Well I stand corrected, thanks you David and Julie for pointing that out out, it is interesting to see that the Government are blaming the EU for this when they are going over the top. Personally I am sort of neutral on Europe, I can see benefits, but I can see reasons against, but when you...

    Info Pax

Pipme, as I understand things the scheme your talking about is for commercial buildings, not privately owned domestic buildings, this is why the Government is introducing the Home Sellers Pack in 2006.

Is There Life On Mars ????

I cannot ever see a situation where Humans would ceade control to a machine. Partt of the human psyche is for us to be in control, humans do not like subservience.

    A form of Democracy?

Freddie, I do not see that such discussion would achieve anything and would only take this topic off subject again. I am sure that a number of posters may have looked at a handful of their posts and thought that perhaps they could have worded their replies differently, but that is life really.

Is There Life On Mars ????

A good discussion here. As I understand Venus, the atmosphere is 98% CO2, the surface temperature is somewhere around the 550K mark, the surface pressure about 90 atmospheres, and in the midlevel altitudes it rains sulphuric acid. There are those that believe there may be some form of microbial...

    A form of Democracy?

Tat comment about Intelligence was directed at the inane and childish attacks certain posters have entered into in this thread, and I note that a certain poster has launched into such attacks in other threads, they obviously think they are funny, I personally think they are simply sad...

    A form of Democracy?

I have just read all of this thread, well the intelligent stuff anyway, and I am intrigued. Whilst i do not agree wholeheartedly with what FWL_Engineer proposed initially, the idea of a system where MP's are not members of Political Parties and answerable to the people they represent sounds...

    Earthing isolator switch

Moderator, what is that load of old tosh under my post above, what you have posted does not make sense when I read the guidelines. Would you be so kind as to post why you have left that message?

    Earthing isolator switch

PaulH53, it was reduced as an ammendment during the 15th edition, when I did my apprenticeship it was 4mm protected and 6mm unprotected. If I remember correctly it changed to the smaller sizes when I was working abroad in the late 1980's.

    Subsidy

I think the figures for the Duke of Westminster could be wrong, not the subsidy, but his net worth, afterall, outside of the Church, the MOD and the State, he is the UK's biggest land owner, He owns the actual land along all of Park Lane, Bayswater and most of the West End, not to mention huge...

    Goodbye MG Rover

Damocles, it has not been BL for almost two decades, and Tax Payers Money did not sweeten the pot for the management buy out when there was the split with BMW, the money all went to BMW and not a penny to Rover. This is actually some of the reason why they lacked the funds to invest in the business.

Thanks for the Info Ban-all-Sheds, I was not aware of that particular product, but now I am I shall certainly consider them for use on jobs where a 600W is overkill. Again, thanks

    Earthing isolator switch

OK Lec, I understand the comment about High Impedance now, if you'll pardon the pun, we appear to have got our wires crossed  I see where your coming from with the concern regarding the enclosure, however if the protective device were a time delayed RCD proporly rated for the...

Is There Life On Mars ????

But if it is left to the US, then they will claim space for themselves and they will then have the potential to control the globe. This may sound scaremanogering, but it is not that much of a leap if you think about it. Even conventional weapons in orbit would be a serious threat that would be...
