Flickering bulbs - 6.5W LEDs and dimmer switch

Thanks @JohnW2 and @terryplumb. This answers my question. @333rocky333 the three switches all work with the Dimmer off. I'm guessing that's a good sign?

Flickering bulbs - 6.5W LEDs and dimmer switch

I doubt anyone will have time to check this out but just in case I've put a diagram with my question in red. Thanks again in adance!

Flickering bulbs - 6.5W LEDs and dimmer switch

Thanks for input. There are two switches controlling the light and only one is a dimmer. Ideally I'd just have two switches - never use the dimmer anyway! Would changing the dimmer for a normal switch rule out any compatibility issues? Edit: actually, to make things a little more complicated...

Flickering bulbs - 6.5W LEDs and dimmer switch

Ok so it sounds like the only solutions would be: - New LED compatible dimmer switch, or remove dimmer for normal switch - New light fixtures that take non-LED bulbs with 40W+ bulbs Pretty clear that the first option would be best! Thanks for input.

Flickering bulbs - 6.5W LEDs and dimmer switch

I just changed two light fixtures and put new bulbs in. They're controllable from a dimmer switch. When I turn them on, they flicker like crazy. I've since figured out that dimmer switches have a min load (usually 40W), but the bulbs are LED and only 6.5W - is this the likely cause of the...

Best way to fill timber frame ready for artificial grass

After a bit of Googling I think this is bang on. Seems like about 80-100mm of type 1, then a layer of weed membrane, then sharp sand for the rest would work.

Best way to fill timber frame ready for artificial grass

That's a really good article. It says "Spread a layer of 3/8” crushed stone (also called Class 2 Road Base, Decomposed Granite, or Chat) evenly over the area...provided that 3-4 inches of existing landscaping is removed." This assumes I'm digging out an area for the lawn, instead of filling in...

    Very slow startup.

Agree with the suggestions so far: - Reduce the number of programs running at start-up to the absolute bare minimum. Just search 'Startup apps' from your Windows taskbar. - Ditch AVG. It's overkill and bloated. Windows 10's own protection paired with regular Malwarebytes scans and common sense...

Best way to fill timber frame ready for artificial grass

I've got a 4" deep timber frame on top of paving slabs ready to fill in before the artificial grass arrives. The area is 4m x 5.5m. I have a couple of questions: - Should I remove some or all of the paving slabs before filling the frame in? Is there any benefit/harm to keeping the slabs? - What...

I'm an idiot. Timber decking laid without gaps. Help!

They were not soaking, but far from dry. Slightly wet to the touch I'd say. It seems like they're a bit swollen up as they're about 148/149mm wide on average instead of 144mm as advertised. Would be quite handy if the nails did come loose now to be fair  I'm getting help to do the job so...

I'm an idiot. Timber decking laid without gaps. Help!

Thanks for tips. They're sticking out a few mil, but in between the grooves of the decking boards*, so a thin puller might be best as I can't get crowbar/wrecking bar/hammer etc in there. * Yes, the decking boards were also put on the wrong way up

I'm an idiot. Timber decking laid without gaps. Help!

Haha, yeah absolutely gutted. I'm more on the creative side than the handy side. When I do a new project myself I research every part to make sure it's bang on, but in this case I thought I was getting semi-expert help - seems I was wrong! Also, turns out the boards are up the wrong way too...

I'm an idiot. Timber decking laid without gaps. Help!

So I tried lifting one board with a wrecking bar. Came up super easy!....leaving the nail behind. The nails were hammered in by hand, and there's still a good head poking out on most of them. I think I'll have a go at pulling one or two to see if they'll budge. Just need to buy a tool for that...

This is a nice idea too - thanks, I'll consider that.

I'm an idiot. Timber decking laid without gaps. Help!

Thanks for the circular saw tip. I'm far too scared and shaky-handed to give that a try, I'm afraid  I'd rather cut the ring nails with a multi-tool once the board has ripped off I think. I'd consider getting a joiner to do this for me though. I'll look into that if I'm having no joy...

I'm an idiot. Timber decking laid without gaps. Help!

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try - good tip on using a board to lever against. I was going to lever against the joist but I'm guessing that's maybe a very bad idea? Any chance a car jack under the board while standing on the joist would work? I would have used screws personally for...

I'm an idiot. Timber decking laid without gaps. Help!

I know this is bad. Really bad. I'm a grade-A idiot. Hopefully the worst DIY mistake I ever make. I just got done laying 6m x 4.8m of decking onto joists without leaving gaps between. I put three nails in each board - one either side and one in the middle. The nails are ring shank, I think. I...
