ok, i'm looking to get the pump changed this weekend, however, i refuse to go out without a fight. The boiler keeps tripping, which from previous replies to the thread leads me to think there's bad circulation. I've drained a bit of water out of the bottom drain valve while keeping the top...

Cool, will look into changing it. There is a plate right at the back of the pump that could be a adjuster, I can't move it by hand though

Hi Tamz, thanks for the reply. But there isn't any speed adjuster anywhere on the pump, certainley not where you are pointing to.

right well it definately doesn't have a speed adjuster then. This is confusing, i don't understand why draining the system can cause so many problems

ok guys, I have checked inside the pump by unscrewing the centre screw, all there is inside is a black plate with a philips head screw in it. The screw isn't tight and moves freely when i turn it with a screw driver. :?

Hi Tony That makes sense about the lack of circulation as my header tank is merky from me putting the last treatment in. I will have aother look at the pump tonight. Cheers. There is definately no noise coming from the pump at present, however water does come out when i loosen the screw...

I haven't put out and out sludge cleaner in but i did put protecter in that prvents sludge. Do you really think it could be sludge, even though I've had this problem before and the system came back on?

sorry for going on but is it strange for the top of the cylinder being hot and the bottom cold? I take it the top of the cylinder is for the hot water. I don't think there is an issue with the pump though, I'm thinking it's more to do with the boiler communicating with /powering the pump.

thanks again for your time John. I hear what your saying about touching the boiler, it doesn't look like it would be able to handle me unscrewing ceased on connections. When fitting the pump i suppose the electrics are straight forward!?

I take it the pipe/nut feeding into my cylinder from my mid position valve is the nut to bleed my hot water feed!?

I took the centre screw out of the pump but there was no where to put my screwdriver...just a black disc type stopper which stops me from putting anything in it!!?? :?

lol - I'm not going to lie by saying it looks ok :-) I'll have a look at that black box....from my recollection it was a sealed box...would I have to open it up to adjust the speed? yes i guess.
