Fuse board / consumer unit change - EIC / EICR required?

OK update here, FB change over the weekend, looks good. Discussed EIC and compliance cert, suggested waiting for the EICR but suggested that all was required was the EIC, still pushed for EICR checks then issue cert. Suggested that local building control will be coming this week to check other...

Fuse board / consumer unit change - EIC / EICR required?

I've only asked to go ahead with the fuse board change atm and not agreed the EICR only quoted. As I originally asked for the quote to be split into two.

tbf he's priced in issues after the CU change/move, well that's what he said at least so not sure why EICR is suggested now or even required.

Fuse board / consumer unit change - EIC / EICR required?

Interesting knowledge on the EICR thanks for this, the additional charge for the EICR is £270 (10 circuits 3 bed house).

Fuse board / consumer unit change - EIC / EICR required?

He wants to do the EICR after the fuse board change. If it's not required then I will as for the EIC and compliance certificate or completion certificate from LA.

Fuse board / consumer unit change - EIC / EICR required?

Thanks all, The thing is he is suggesting an EICR is to be carried out at an additional cost, I think it's probably good practice to do so but not essential. My concern is that the EIC and the completion of compliance certificate is all that is actually required here. But perhaps if I ask for...

Fuse board / consumer unit change - EIC / EICR required?

Thanks - I've found the EIC certificate online: https://electrical.theiet.org/media/2818/bs7671-eic.pdf Would I expect the electrician to write this up and provide a copy on the day of install, or should this come in the post through the council? Does it cost them to submit anything?

Fuse board / consumer unit change - EIC / EICR required?

Hi all, My electrician is moving and replacing the fuse box soon to an updated RCBO one. As I understand a certificate should be provided after the completion of the change, is this an EIC or EICR - which is required? This is not a rented property. Thanks

Baxi combi 836 and Nest Thermostat not regulating hot water temp

Had the boiler about 2 years and only realised when looking at the boiler with ms in the shower. Should of been fixed by now right?

Baxi combi 836 and Nest Thermostat not regulating hot water temp

Yes but being a combi it takes time to reach the tap - not exactly dangerous but not safe unless you know.

Baxi combi 836 and Nest Thermostat not regulating hot water temp

Thanks will give them a call to confirm. It's a bit of a joke really as opentherm works on heating but not on the hot water side, obviously if you wire this up as a traditional thermostat then you can control the hot water temp from the boiler controls.

Baxi combi 836 and Nest Thermostat not regulating hot water temp

Correct, the dial on the boiler cannot be set as opentherm is being used.

How close light fittings to steel beam

Yeah thought as much but rather ask here first as quicker than getting BC out for one check and they're so hard to get hold of.

Baxi combi 836 and Nest Thermostat not regulating hot water temp

Hi all, My Baxi 836 boiler relatively new works all fine with the nest thermostat for heating using opentherm but when it comes to regulating the temperature of the hot water it will always go to 68 degrees (assume max) rather than the temp set from the nest. I assume this is something to do...

How close light fittings to steel beam

Thanks guys I will check the spotlights guidelines. My steel will be in the ceiling and therefore the fire resistent plasterboard shall just butt up against normal plasterboard, hence asking the question as the spotlights might well be drilled into the fire plasterboard. Thanks

    Fixing plasterboard to steel beam?

Just to update, changed out the drill bit to a stepped drill applied loads of pressure and boom we're in business. Tech screw took ages compared to the stepped drill bit not sure how you guys managed it (they are a decent set too). Got there in the end, thanks all for advice.
