    What mix for under padstone?

Hi all, Builder has set padstones tight up under the steel, it's been 3-4 days and where it's dried out the padstone now has a gap between the steel and the pad of about 1mm or so, what's the best mix to be using to get this set back right without it dropping. Thanks

Lintel in footing close to knock through

I didn't assume, SE did the calcs for everything involved, cheers.

    Universal column bolt holes

From research this is the norm: Spacer tubes at 400mm centres staggered 50mm above and below the centre line M16 bolts.

    Universal column bolt holes

Hi all, On my struc calcs it mentions either bolting or welding two steels together 3000mm UC 152x152 30 x2 - however there is no mention of the space between the holes, the spacer to use or the bolts. Anyone have a standard formula? BC had passed these calcs without any questions. Thanks

Detached Garage help/comments/criticisms please :-/ (Building Regs !?)

Why so much insulation for a single skin blockwork? It looks fine, however there is no structural calculations for the beams.

Lintel in footing close to knock through

It's almost like the following taken from google, yellow line highlighting the inner cavity leaf, that will continue as a wall to extension, then the bricks to the left will be taken down to form part of the opening.

Lintel in footing close to knock through

It's not really a great diagram, just an overhead really basic drawing from the keyboard! This is displaying the cavity wall where the steel will sit (on the inner skin). Cavity wall: | | Concrete Lintel: === | | | |==== | | | | The cavity wall has a lintel to the right hand side, the steel...

Lintel in footing close to knock through

Hi all, Knocking out 3m cavity load bearing wall for remaining upper block work, roof and assume extension roof (not the the full span), joists run parallel therefore upstairs weight remains supported elsewhere. UC are going to sit on the inner skin of the remaining block work on padstones, on...

    Cost of knock through

NoSeall, what is best practice here then? Doesn't the excess beam width get carried into the floor? How do you get around it? Have another beam with welded plate?

    Exposing Steel beam

Thanks RandomGrinch, however fireboard isn't going to stop that from happening, my understanding is it gives resistance to the fire but eventually will penetrate.

    Cost of knock through

Both of them work alone. I'd imagine, they would return on second or third day to remove acro's once everything is set. Good point, wall is 275 - but the idea is to push them up into the ceiling so that they're covered. SE has drawn up another option to use a larger beam with a welded plate...

    Cost of knock through

This is not making good, just knocking out fitting the support. I'm not knocking the price, I'm checking it's the right price (two quotes so far).

    Cost of knock through

Hi all, Getting three quotes before going ahead, the rule of thumb, suggestions on what the price should roughly be for the following work. Knock through into extension, supply and fit beam, Beam span is 3.4M the beam is double 152 x 152 x 30UC S275 seated on two pad stones, bolted together...
