    downlighters / cooker point

spx, breezer has a valid point here. You could use the existing conduit and rewire the circuit correctly by installing 4mm T&E to the first socket. You'll still have to change the protection to 32A.

    house alarm

Don't take it off the lighting circuit. You could take a radial circuit off the sockets ring to a fused spur unit. Consider fitting a spur (with a flex hole) beside a socket close to where the main alarm panel will be sited, then you can clip a short length of flex from the spur to the panel...

    downlighters / cooker point

For the radial circuit (which you call a spur) you can do so. Downrate the protection to 32A, terminate the 6mm cable, then use 4mm T&E cable to link to the second socket. Its not ideal as you'll find it hard to terminate the 6mm and 4mm in the first socket - so make sure all your terminations...

    Installing electric shower from scratch

Forget about it FWL. You've taken me almost down to your level. I won't be posting any more on this subject. Grow up.

    Installing electric shower from scratch

Thanks for the CV Astronomy? - My degree is in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and my Masters is in Innovation Management. As for personal attacks - look at the history of this debate, and you are the only one who has critiqued. let it lie for your own good.

    Installing electric shower from scratch

Cheers James - wise words and I wholeheartedly agree. FWL - I am anonymous because I INSPECT what YOU DO. Be careful who you reveal yourself to as you are deforming the character of your company, ruining this forum and letting yourself down. I have more years experience than you and am sure...

A further few options for the 60amp fuse. FWL has a problem and we experienced engineers apologize for his ignorance on this subject. here Glad to here you got sorted

Are they on this listing (or may be there is a lead to it from there) here

    Installing electric shower from scratch

You need an RCD fitted Take the supply from a 60A fuse in the CU to a separate 45A 30mA RCD unit and then run the 10mm T&E cable to the shower. Clip the cable clear of being enclosed in insulation.

    Overhead Power Worry

All circuits at a TT supplied installation must be RCD protected. It is normal for 2 distribution boards to be installed at TT supplied premises (although split protection boards are available). If using 2 boards then connect the cable tails of each to ISCO connectors, and terminate the...

    light switches

??? 1 gang double ??? Just so we can continue to help you a 2 gang switch = 2 switches on one switchplate a 2 way switch = the switch you refer to as having 'L1, L2 & COM' on it an intermediate switch = the one with 4 terminals that says 'intermediate' on it eg a 4 gang 2 way switch...

    downlights installation on landing help!

Can you confirm that you have one switched live (not black!!!) and that each light fitting has its own transformer Check your connections at the first and second light fitting.

    ADDING ADDITIONAL LIFGTING

Yes - so every light fitting will have two 1.5mm twin & earth cables attached, with the exception of the last one which will only have one. I'd snip off the earth (if not required) at each light fitting and tape up the end or use 2 core flex.

    Kitchen sockets and cooker.

Cheers plugwash At last someone who knows what they're talking about. Angled runs are required rarely but are sometimes necessary to avoid door lintels etc.

    Kitchen sockets and cooker.

Not sure what's meant by your first part of the question - all unused cables at your installation should be removed. You must provide protection for PVC/PVC cable. vertical drops can be in plastic conduit and all other planes should be done in metal conduit (ie angled and horizontal runs)...

    Bit of a Problem!

Yes You must bond all incoming supply pipework (water mains etc) to your main incoming earth. The csa of these main bonding conductors is determined by the csa of your incoming supply phase conductors and the type of supply provided by your supply authority ... TN-S = you have a collar...

breezer Short it out at the panel to identify the faulty sub-circuit then get your meter out.

    ADDING ADDITIONAL LIFGTING

PERKS Change the rose to a junction box, daisy chain (parrallel) to 10 SMALL 10A junction boxes and then connect the lights to each SMALL jb. You can get 10A junction boxes which are small enough to come out of the spotlight hole.
