    Electrical Shock from Oven?

I would bet that there is a Delta or Y "suppressor" capacitor which, with the lack of an earth is causing the metalwork to float at 1/2 mains volts. Frank

    under cabinet lighting

I would use 2.5mm to the FCU otherwise you will have 1.5mm protected by a 32A breaker. Frank

Gas from DIY cable in duct

Hydrogen and oxygen mixture burns explosively. Its absolutely unmistakable. Are you positive that this is not a "natural gas" leak? Frank

    Unswitched sockets for cleaners

Nah, its so you can't play a joke on the cleaners by rapidly switching their vacuum cleaner on and off and laughing as they scratch their head. Sorry, done that... Seriously, no reason to be unswitched but will be fed from a separate General Services board rather than a technical/maintained...

    Filament type tube

Search Google for tubular lamp. I would advise you replace the fitting for a fluorescent type though. These are very inefficient and get really hot. Frank

    IPOD Charger Warning!!!

No excuse for what happened but the IPad charger is a substantially larger device rated at 10W. This one looks like the standard 5v 1A USB charger so maybe not suitable for the iPad and not having proper overload protection..... Frank

    mcb trip why?

Probably just high inrush current which is a feature of toroidal transformers. Either replace your MCB with a "Type C" or replace the toroidal transformer with electronic ones. Frank

    power supply

Yes. the 3.75A is the maximum current that the power supply is capable of. Anything requiring LESS than 3.75A is OK. Frank

Simple (I hope) voltage drop/resistan over distance question

That's the problem. There is little scope for voltage drop with just a 5v supply. Really needs a cable with a much higher cross-sectional area. Can you pull one through with the existing "telephone" cable? Frank

    Lead solder

It depends on the scale. In very fine work, the tin crystals grow whiskers which eventually cause a failure. Lead inhibits their growth so leaded solder doesn't suffer this failure. Frank

    Lead solder

Also, nothing that is flying around the earth in any satellites is using lead-free solder. That says it all. Frank

Overhead power to 19" equipment rack

Trunking. Either 4x4 or 6x6.. http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Trunking_Galv_Index/index.html I am assuming that the 16A supply if for a UPS with a 16A IEC inlet. Frank

Overhead power to 19" equipment rack

Normally, these would be mounted on trunking which spans the whole length of the racks. You could use a 19" length of trunking with end caps but of course, you would have to buy a 3m length. How about 16A sockets mounted on die-cast boxes fastened to the top of the rack with glands for the...

    12V Light Slow Turning On

Its almost certainly the electronic transformer. You should be able to access this by removing the light fitting. Get one with the same rating. Frank

    Best stud finder

I have a Bosch DMF 10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c55cxwNH01E I can honestly say that it DOESN'T detect wood, no matter what anyone else says. What is DOES do rather well is detect metal and of course will easily detect plasterboard screws or nails which are of course in the studs...

    electrics

Your builder is correct. This type of fitting is not designed to be flush with the plaster and the plastic "frames" should stay put but I would have removed before painting, then replaced. Frank
