Cheers guys, thanks for the advice..the flue exits top of boiler then right angle quite quickly to exit thru kitchen wall - flue is box shaped, but have noticed that exhaust within boxing is usual cylindrical shape...cowl on external flue is box shaped and has a horizontal v, I assume to combat...

    Boiler Flue Problems

Hello all, once more! My boiler (oil fired) flue exits the house on quite an exposed wall. When the wind blows quite strongly their is a strong smell of fumes coming back into the kitchen - whilst the wall surrounding the flue is a little leaky, I think the wind is basically blowing right down...

    Boundary Issues

I could use leverage if I wanted to fall out with my neighbours...the fence isn't the best and their dog keeps straying onto my garden...

    Boundary Issues

My garden is bounded on 3 sides by a fence, that doesn't offer much privacy - I would like a taller one put up so we get that privacy. Trouble is I am only responsible for 2 sides of the boundary, my neighbours landlord being responsible for the final 3rd side. I could offer to pay for it all...

No, everything drains well, and the water in the toilet is normal levels...it's definately a 'toilet' smell, I know as my head has been (reluctantly) all over it today chipping off old floor tiles!!! There could be a dead mouse here or there, this is a farm property after all...I'm...

    Chimney Brest/Fire Place Renovation

Hello again...! :D 3rd project of the day... My Chimney brest has a 'shelf' built in about 1/3rd of the way down from the ceiling: | |_ ..| ..| ..| Looks a bit like that - trouble is I'm not overly keen on it and would like to remove IF it isn't going to be a major...

    Cement Flooring Question

Thanks Splints...you could be right, as the spot has been the toilet for at least 70 years! There is a radiator next to the toilet, which has been cleaned lots, to no avail - it's gonna get moved soon anyhow... I think it may be a mix of the concrete floor, the boxing over all the pipes...

    VAUXHALL CORSA LS AUTO

sounds like the motor/pump is not working - this could be because the connection is faulty or the motor has packed up. Not overly expensive if this is the problem...

    bmw H reg central locking

I have a P reg 325 that had a similar problem...near side rear failed about 3 yrs ago, then the boot would intermittently operate, then they all suddenly failed about 12 months ago...personally I think age and moisture has a lot to do with it...Mine is on 215000 miles at the mo...not really...

    Cement Flooring Question

My house has a cement floor forming the front of the house (kitchen and bathroom) and wooden floor for the rear. The bathroom is an old toilet and pantry knocked into one...and it honks a bit when the place gets warm...I thought the old carpet was the initial problem but no! I have now lifted...

    Part P regs/DIYers...

When I update my kitchen, to save money I'm considering doing the re-wire myself (House has just been fully re-wired bar kitchen, due to impending re modelling) - is this now legal, if I get it checked and certified after I have done the work? Or do I have to get a qualified person in to do it...

    Newby Flooring Question

Hence why we went for the wood option in the first place, but it would be nice to keep what is originally there, and 'bring it out'...also saves money!

    Newby Flooring Question

Nice one, thanks Woody...no T&G, just straight forward, run of the mill floor boards, nailed to the joists as they come! It's not fancy or luxury looking, but we dont want that look - boards and rugs will suit us fine! Your comment re the gaps - would the pva mix not be flexible enough?! We...
