Sounds like venting problem My Ideal Standard one does this a little ,but thats coz i had to put the vent in a less than ideal position :(

You need to state how big the existing radiator is width and height also is it single or double panel does it have "fins" on any of the panels

I hate those clips,I normally throw them away and find another solution And yes the instructions are pants,they make no sense at all,been there. Not much help but at least you know you are not alone :)
