How do I extend a cooker wire?

ps - after posting this i realised i should have a search and see if this has been answered already. Most people have said re-wire all the way back to the consumer unit, but this isn't really possible, not without a lot of strife and work. As well as ripping up new carpets etc. Someone...

How do I extend a cooker wire?

I want to relocate the switch for me cooker, but the wire will be too short to run to the new position. What is the best way to extend this (without taking the whole wire out and starting again). I had a look at using a junction box, but the connectors looked too small to house the wire...

I've read loads of posts on this, but can't seem to get a definitive answer. self explanatory question really. My walls are currently part tiled and the rest is painted plasterboard. I'm going to take the old tiles off, then re-tile. Where it isn't tiled, can I tile straight onto painted...

Have just been reading all the posts I can on laying travertine as I'm starting this at the weekend. I have a few questions: I ordered a load of travertine from a company up north (I am in London) and they supplied it with grey adhesive. After reading a couple of posts I'm a little worried...

    modifying ikea halogen cabinet spotlights

thanks for your reply. Am aware of part p, I had 3 halogen spots installed by a qualified electrician instead of the main ceiling rose. The wire from the last one of these is taken across the room, so the spot lights under the units can be switched on at the same time. If it is ok to use...

    recessing plastic pipes

okey. I plan to use a wall mounted tap, so the pipes for this will obviously have to be recessed. It would have to be a right angle bend for these - do you recommend using copper for this then?

    DIY bathroom cabinet.

what am i talking about. I only need one sheet of veneered mdf either 1 or 2 sided, so even using zebrano, materials only come to around £120. I will post some pictures when I'm done.

    DIY bathroom cabinet.

ps I presume it is unsuitable to use this: http://www.slhardwoods.co.uk/sheetmaterials_results.asp?sheetID=6 either side of the main MR MDF core. Most of the MR veneers are double sided, which I don't really need to do this!

    DIY bathroom cabinet.

Thanks Had a look into this a bit further last night - I think my best bet will be to do what you suggested and sandwich a piece of 18mm MDF with two 6mm veneered pieces, then get some veneer sheets to edge it. Might have to go for a cheaper veneer like american walnut to bring the...
