Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

Yeah that's the tech I was referring to. It's a simple hack and an example of a company making a stupid mistake in the design of the alarm and/or key fob that could be exploited. Mercedes was the one I saw nicked in under 30 seconds so I would many new cars have the same stupid tech installed...

Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

Ok you keep saying Cat burglars and I really take offence to that as that just puts cats generally in a bad light :D Not the same thing. But had a call from my ISP this year as there was a problem with them getting DD payments! (not my ISP of course) But of course due to TalkTalk not bothering...

Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

Well I guess it depends how you define smart, but Thames Water is calling them smart! Customers here can open the lids and read the standard meters, the new boxes going in now look the same, so looks like they can be opened by customers. But just found this from last year, it says it sends an...

Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

I've been told I'm paranoid so it must be true lol But the meters all line up with each house here so you can tell which one is for each property. I was told they will be wireless so I know in my experience they will be hacked eventually. But the big risk is the bulk data once it's on their...

Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

No it isn't. It's the lack of notice or any notice in my case and at least one of my neighbours who has a disabled wife. No the wifi meter is in the pavement, public footpath so no hope of the tin foil wrap lol But thanx for the tip.

Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

Thanx for your reply, oh I mean bumping your post count and not actually contributing to the thread! (y) Ok, to be more specific and clear, not my parking space, the parking space outside my home which I can no longer use for probably the next 2 weeks. But they have also dumped their gear on...

Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

Yes 200% sure it is a smart meter as I spent 2 hours talking to customer service. They will be a remote pickup point where the signal from these new meters will get sent to then back to Thames Water from there. Don't know if can be read from passing vehicle, but that would be easy for them to do...

Sorry firstly, but not sure what the best place to post this. I've had Thames Water turn up at my road with no notice on Friday and dump a load of there stuff on a big plastic sheet including a tone of earth steeling my parking place. Says work will be done in about a week but when I called...

Builder burning waste in back garden regularly over 2 months!

Thanx everyone for all the helpful advice. A real shame the council don't appear interested, never did get a call back when I left a message for environmental health either! And at least 3 people complained including myself. I've passed on the info here to some of my neighbours so if the...

Builder burning waste in back garden regularly over 2 months!

Thanx for the fast replies guys. One of my neighbours since had enough and said he was going to call the police. I've called council twice and at first a month ago or so was told they can't stop people from burning stuff in their own garden, but I had to make it clear to her it was building...

Builder burning waste in back garden regularly over 2 months!

Apologies if this is the wrong area of the forum for this. A builder has been working on a residential property near me for around 3 months, for at least 2 months they have been burning anything and everything in the back garden. Often a strong smell of plastic like today, painted fence panels...

Property management company - Who should pay for tree removal?

I'm not sure if they are separate, but I'll check thanx. Thanx for info. I didn't know that, seems strange why they would cover a garden wall but not the fence, but if that's how its always been so be it. But also the service contract / management company also have a slush fund, or should I say...

Property management company - Who should pay for tree removal?

Well it depends who is at fault, doesn't it! I'm really not sure if maintenance could be a valid argument! But If a management company maintain the property which includes the garden and if trees have not been checked for diseases and dead branches that could possibly fall, that would bring it...

Property management company - Who should pay for tree removal?

Thanx for the reply. Nope, they've not said anything about excess. The amount for the fence and tree branch removal is about the same, but leaseholders don't seem to get a vote on company used so I'll suggest they get quotes to verify costs. management company are asking around £800 in total...

Property management company - Who should pay for tree removal?

I've been trying to find this info out so hopefully someone will be able to at least point me in the right direction. The property management company looking after the building and grounds that my mother has a flat in is asking all the lease holders to pay for part of a tree that has fallen to...

LV Insurance company refusing contents cover for 1st floor flat Re flood risk area!

Thanx for the replies everyone. Very appreciated. Would take me too long to answer all replies so I'll try and list a few points in one post. I've done some checks on the various flood risk sites. What I can see so far is some conflicting data. I think this is because the building in very close...

My mum has just moved into a first floor flat. Next doors fence height, how heigh can it be?

Very good point. That would be really bad with a 3ft. Thanx for reply. It's already 6ft and ground is slightly lower my side, but after removal of old patio and new cement base down I can't tell now, maybe it's the same. So with new base, cement, bricks, wood and decking I have no idea. But...
