Hi Securespark, You may have some luck here: http://www.spares2you.co.uk/Lampholder_Fittings/Small-BC-Lampholders/ I have bought lampholder bits-'n'-pieces from here in the past and have not looked back! Hope this helps! :) Kind Regards, Andrew! :)

t&e cable for 2 way switch.

Hi Neil, To be honest, wouldn't it be easier to purchase a small amount of 3 Core and Earth Cable in the first place, from places such as Toolstation, as 10 Metres is only £8.37 and would be more economical than purchasing a drum of single core wire, and look much better in the process, but at...

Light Bulb fuses house? Help required?!?

It could be a possibility, we don't know what the extent of the situation is because we are not there! Also, my first post got a "Thanks" from the Original Poster by the way!

Light Bulb fuses house? Help required?!?

Hi BAS, What I mean by that is such faults, including Line-to-Earth faults on a perished rubber-sheathed cable, or a loose connection at connection points, for example. I took what was described at face value, as there is no photos to indicate otherwise! Also, I suggested seeking the advice...

Light Bulb fuses house? Help required?!?

Hi Marc138, Welcome to DIYNot. The light bulb blowing could indicate that there is a breakdown with the circuit (including: Cables and/or Wiring Accessories that are connected to the circuit), as indicated by replacing the fuse wire in the fuse holder on a regular occurrence, furthermore, I...

    Shower switch

I think the switch's manufacturer, as seen on the picture, is CED, mainly stocked by Toolstation!

Why no E27 Pendant fittings in UK?

You do make me laugh BAS! :) Very important point, although I did assume that the original poster had a CPC connected to the consumer unit, at the pendant connector point already! :) Thank you winston for backing up my point, I was stating the point from past experience! :)

    Another misleading and useless video!

Ah I get it now, some of the circuit conductors have been cut off, I'm no professional, but I know from experience from wiring electrical bits 'n' pieces, like plugs and trailing sockets and the like, that this would never work in real life! :) Thank you for pointing me in the right direction...

    Another misleading and useless video!

Is it that she did not fix the connector plate securely or that she made reference to the modern luminaires with terminals in the wrong positions, these are what springs to mind! :)

    Switches and sockets...

Hi, Sounds like a good plan to me, although you may hear different from the usual's to this forum. To quote on your idea of putting one in the kitchen, from what I can see they are no different to a conventional 13A Socket, furthermore, if you have a couple of USB Devices, such as a tablet...

    Noteworthy Electrical related YouTube channel

I think that is Flameport's YouTube Channel, as in his excellent videos which I watch, he links to additional material on his videos on www.flameport.com. His website is also of a very high quality with very informative articles, from the ovbious to the more obscure items that are in the remit...

Advice required for wiring in a new light unit

Also, to add to previous posts, don't forget your Rubber Grommets (for the openings of the Metal Backbox), usually of the 20mm size, and Earth Sleeving (for sleeving your Earth wires in Twin and Earth Cable), these are not expensive and can help prevent shorting on the circuit! :)

    Breaking news just in

I agree, the last time I went into a Homebase down in Fareham (Hampshire), they had dedicated a section of the store to a "Mini" branch of Argos, well instead of catalouges and those little pencils (or pens), they all went "Digital" with Samsung Tablets to browse and purchase products that they...

    Repairing already plastered walls

Hi DIYNot Plastering Forum, Over the last few days, in my bedroom cupboard, I have had parts of the top coat of the plaster on the side walls come off, presumbly had blown and felt hollow after removing the fixings in there, it was due to be repaired soon, but, what happened after scraping...
