    Regulations

It's sometimes the only place to fit the socket and it's usually a spur from a double pole 20A isolating switch above the worktop which is incorporated into the ring main ... new installations anyway, but a I said before I'm sure it's only a recommendation and not a necessity by the Regs

    Regulations

It should be above the worktop, but I think it is only an recommendation to have an isolater switch and not a hard regulation .... I'm sure someone will clarify on this for you

    installing an outside light

Hello Hopelesselectric, That sounds like the switch connections you have just quoted again rather than the light connections. :? There should most likely be 2 x twin & earth sheathed cables at the light fitting with the 2-reds connected together in a seperate connector, 1-black and 1-red...

    Dust to dawn pir?

Yes .. you can get stand alone Dawn to Dusk sensors that would control a number of lights. External Photo-Cell Switch 5 Amp Switch on at 55 or 70 LUX. Mouldings are polycarbonate for vandal resistance and Uv inhibited. Designed to switch a lighting load on and off...

    Dust to dawn pir?

Have the PIR's supplied via the dawn to dusk sensor .. ensure your PIR's are capable of switching the load of all your lights! Problem here is the lights will still only be at 20% as they are connected in series and to do this you would be breaking the feed across the lamp. To wire in...

    Temporarily removing a gas cooker

As far as I am aware a stand alone gas cooker should have a flexible hose pipe with the bayonet connector ...push the hose up into the connector and give it a quarter turn to remove. A gas hob I believe should be hard piped into the gas supply and one that you cannot touch

    Loose Bathroom Sink

I would say that you will probably have to disconnect your pipework and remove the sink, replace the bracket and refit. You might be able to 'hammer' back into shape the lip on the original bracket and refit it to the wall.

How to remove bathroom tile adhersive ?

You would be better off putting a skim of plaster over it...doesn't have to be perfect if you are tiling over it. ( I did the same thing)

    help on new electric cooker

I think the manufacturers mean a 32A MCB, this is really the modern equivalent of 30amp fusewire. You can get a 45 cartridge fuse + housing to fit into your existing fuse holder but the deciding factor is your cable size which I would assume to be 6mm which has a current carrying capacity of...

    Stand alone cooker

Yes ...make sure its isolated You say there is a panel to wire into and a fused switch in place ... there's not normally a FUSED switch, that sounds like a fused spur unit your describing and would not be suitable for a stand alone cooker There should be a dedicated cooker unit or 45a...

    kitchen unit floor plinths

I have cut laminated kitchen worktops, plinths etc with a circular saw no problem. As long ast the good side that is seen is on the bottom when cutting, any rough edge caused by the saw will be on the top ie the side of the plinth that will be against the unit, the front edge will be perfect.

    Shower cable?

Bad connections at the switch can cause it to burn out also it depends on the rating of the switch and the rating of the shower. A 9Kw shower is about the max for 6mm anything larger then it should be 10mm cable. A 9kw shower will draw approx 41amps and some switches although rated at 45amp...

    Cooker circuit

1970's wiring ...10mm for the cooker is unusual, it would normally be 6mm. :? What you propose to do is fine except it should be a 15A fuse rather than a 30A in the CU When you change the control unit over to a twin skt, use a 35mm box rather than the 25mm deep box as you will find that...
