    3 phase blunder

I recall working in a garage once and the boss (dodgy bloke to say the least) picked up some strip lights and I said I'll fit them for him. Now hanging them in place as a doddle but the problem come was wiring them up. For some reason there seemed to be more wires then I expected. I now know...

1997 ford escort1.6 lx. water leak

As already said difficult to pinpoint unless you can post a picture maybe? There is a compound called Kseal that works wonders. Cost's about a tenner and all you do is pour it into the header tank and refill with water. Might be worth a try as its a lot better then other rad seal on the...

1995 Fiat Punto possible electrical fault (lights)

Very common fault on Mk1 Puntos. I'm amazed at how many I have seen over the years with a brake light out. Sounds to me like the connector is clearly at fault. Get a pair of long nose pliers and gently ever so slightlt twist the pins one at a time. this will force the contacts into lace...

Last couple of weekends have been productive and seen the wall moved 600mm into the bedroom and 600mm into the hall way so basic shape of bathroom is there. Had a little side project yesterday. Because the hallway is now L shape have the space to fit a larger loft access hatch with fold away...

    Cambelt snapped!!!

Which Punto is it? The MK1 with the 1.2(I think) were a safe engine and take about 20 mins to pop a new belt on. Max an hour for an untrained mechanic. Cam belt would have failed due to water pump being froze up as it is driven off the cam belt. Dont forget to hack some anti-freeze in when...

    faulty starter motor on mondeo

All you can do is remove the starter and see if there is any metal filings around the end that goes into the gearbox. If there is then very likley that you have a faulty Dual Mass Fly Wheel. There is a fair chance that it is just the starter motor TBH as they fail all the time.

    zafira overheating

I'd say water pump. Get it recovered to garage as some Zafiras are cam belt driven water pumps. If the pump fails completly then serious engine damage may occur.

Vauxhall Astra MK5 H Diesel losing Power

Green flag, you got to love 'em. Still you get what you pay for........ Will be the alternator, trust me. As An AA Patrol I see and accurately diagnose defective alternators on Vauxhalls with exactly the same symptons as discribed by you. Slim possibilty is a broken or burnt out wire on...

    MICRA FUEL PUMP ELECTRICS

Did you drive it to the garage? If so Fuel Pump is ok. I agree with what has been said already. There will be a relay issue somewhere. It would pay to buy one and fit it your self pretty easy.

    Major Bathroom Re-Work

Last thing I want is to look at the finished job and think "Why didnt I do that?" Have already planned the route for the soil pipe and it involves boxing up the waste in the downstairs loo. This will also give plenty of slope on the waste. Shower cubicle is now removed only to discover that...

Got autodata CD - How do a pinout check?

What vehicle is it on? And what is the actual fault? It may be more cost effective to get an OBD Code reader that enables you to do live readings via your laptop. Back when I worked in a dealership we used to have pin out connectors specific to each ECU but with modern code readers these...
