All you can do is remove the starter and see if there is any metal filings around the end that goes into the gearbox. If there is then very likley that you have a faulty Dual Mass Fly Wheel. There is a fair chance that it is just the starter motor TBH as they fail all the time.

I'd say water pump. Get it recovered to garage as some Zafiras are cam belt driven water pumps. If the pump fails completly then serious engine damage may occur.
