No, the thermostat does not have an isolating switch the "gray box" also contains an immersion heater which does have a switch leave this off (use it only when you boiler is not available to provide heat) Matt

nope,the fixed speed pumps are being phased out by the pump manufacturers and will get harder to come by but if he can get a hold of an identical one just fit it The newer a rated one (and of course more expensive)would be a better choice though Matt
