    Jeremy Beadle would.........

It is a pretty sad state of affairs, when we have to resort to making jokes about deceased people. Even worse a deceased person, who struggled with a disability through his life, but still found the time to help other people by raising thousands and thousands of pounds for charity

Problems with new central heating install

Some of these vertical radiators are very sensitive to having the pipework correct. Ie they need the flow and return into the right sides of the rad. Is it possible that the fitters have now made the flow the return and vica versa? Graham

Water dripping from Combi boiler flue.

I had exactly the same problem, with an Alpha flue last year. Exactly the same situation as yours. Fan goosed as rain water had come down the flue from the gutter above the flue. Upon investigation, found that condensate was running away from boiler. Flue was level, when it should be 3...

Tapping noise in central heating with Megaflo cylinder

Likely cause is that the pipe is expanding and rubbing against something- a joist or floorboard etc.

Add megaflow/ariston and remove normal hot water cylinder

Yes it is a job that can be done. You will need to check the flow and pressure of your incoming water main. a benchmark is 20 litres per minute and 1 bar pressure minimum, although the greater the better. And you also need to have the unvented cylinder installed by a competent person...

Boiler always at 4 bar on Betacom 24c

To rule out filling loop. disconnect the silver flexi. PRV definitely needs replacing, as already stated should be lifting at 3 bar! Could be a pinholed plate heat exchanger! Graham

help plz hanging a rad on a really nice wall

On plasterboard walls, depending on the size of the rad, I usually use hollow wall anchors. Go for the biggest ones you can get for extra beef! try these http://www.screwfix.com/prods/11143/Fixings/Cavity-Fixings/Hollow-Wall-Anchor-5-x-72mm-16-32mm-Pack-of-10 Graham

    Boiler in Loft

You could install it without any of the stuff you mentioned, but if there is a manufacturers call out in warranty, then they might not go into the loft. I was looking at this myself a few weeks ago. General consensus... Fixed access, fixed flooring to the boiler and secure floor to work...

    copper pipes for radiators

1 When piped straight and correctly then copper is the best imo. Some use plastic straight into rads, but then that is their choice. 2 The green you are talking about, is more than likely flux residue, that has not been cleaned off, when the joints were soldered. sometimes you see a greeny...

Are Plumbers Still Installing Open Vent Systems?

Yeah the last two installs were open vent, due to poor water pressure, customer choice etc etc. Personally, in your scenario I would, if the water pressure is good enough, convince the customer of the benefits of mains hot water, and install an unvented cylinder, and a system boiler. HTH...

1 year old Worcester Combi 30cdi - NOT ENOUGH HOT WATER

A megaflow is an unvented cylinder, it is just a well known name The same as a vacuum cleaner is called a hoover. Pressure and flow are CRITICAL for the cylinder to perform as intended. My pressure tester fits onto any washing mc valve, outside tap, and also has a rubber top to put on...
