    What Size Tile Spacers?

The walls have just been plasterboarded so they are mostly dead flat apart from at the joins but thankfully there aren't too many of them. Any advice on how to handle/lay these "big 'uns"? :)

just out of interest... why does it have to be on the customers side of the meter instead of connected 'directly'?

Supplementary bonding in a bathroom (sorry!)

it will be copper pipes only plugwash so lead-free will be ok i guess. All - what is the definition of accessible? I am boxing in (and subsequently tiling) most of the pipework so will any bonds there need to be soldered or is ripping off a box unit considered "accessing"

Supplementary bonding in a bathroom (sorry!)

So if i solder a bonding connection to a copper pipe then it does not have to be accessible? a) does the joint need to be viewed by a building inspector/electrician signing of my notified work or would me saying that it's soldered be enough for them? b) how would you solder it? would you...

    Bathroom Supplementary Bonding

Thanks securespark, Towel rail is not electrically fed - just CH water pipes and lights are not SELV. Is it usual for chrome mains spotlights not have an earth connection?

    Bathroom Supplementary Bonding

John, Thanks for trying to explain this... My spotlights are mains voltage but do not have an earth connection on the fitting themselves. The connection block has a connector for the earth but this does not appear to be connected to the metal casing of the light itself. The light...

How much to install kitchen worktops?

I'm fitting a new kitchen and was wondering how much you think it would cost to get a 90 degree joint fitted professionally using jig and router etc? It may be worth my while paying for a pro to do rather than buying worktops twice after attempting it myself! Thanks in advance Chris

Is there any IEE requirement to secure runs of cable beneath the groundfloor floorboards or can they simply run along the foundations / earth beneath the property? Thanks Chris

Ground Floor Lighting Circuit Under Groundfloor Floorboards

I realise that but i was wondering what the formula was out of interest. I hadn't thought about splitting the lighting into two before now and i think it is definitely preferential at this point in time. It removes any fears I had (although they were probably unfounded) about the cable size...

Ground Floor Lighting Circuit Under Groundfloor Floorboards

Stop laughing at me! :) What is the equation for calculating the max wattage taking in account the cable size? 230 x 6 = 1380 or am i, again, barking up the wrong tree?

Ground Floor Lighting Circuit Under Groundfloor Floorboards

I may be using the wrong terminology sorry Old circuit is 1mm T+E, thought that i should upgrade to 1.5mm to allow more wattage. I calculated that at maximum I would be looking to connect 1.4kW to the lighting circuit. The TLC cable calculator then suggested using 1.5mm T+E. I would...
