Basically... is the concept feasable? The reason i ask is that i have a ground floor flat, hence no access to the ceiling space from above. So instead of hacking lots of lovley holes in the ceiling to run a new loop-in lighting ring I thought you could use junction boxes under the floor...

I would like to install an outside light (not a floodlight... just a normal light at the front door). This light will be placed on the outside wall of either the bedroom (ground floor flat) or the living room. My question is... do the regs require protection if i run the cable directly...

I'm getting an TN-C-S arrangement fitted so non rcd protection seems sensible to me. I'll also check the cable calculations when i get the correct spec from boiler manufacturers so that seems to have answered my query. Many thanks baldelectrician

they are cotton cables coming from the meter and taped onto the tails! Also i'm 100% that it's underground. The only earthing point i can see is on the mains gas pipe. I need to get under the floor boards to see where everything runs though.
