Is this condensation Damp, or somethiong more sinister?

Thanks for the reply. I don t think it's a pipe, as there are no services meat that wall except for the radiator. But as I have a combination boiler and the pressure is steady I don't think that is leaking. The wall is also solid and there are no signs of crumbling etc. I have checked the other...

Is this condensation Damp, or somethiong more sinister?

Hi, I was wandering if anyone could tell me there thoughts on this. As you can see in the picture there is a patch of dampness across the top of my skirting board in my hall way. The wall is a rendered sandstone wall and is has no external faces (ie internal wall). The patch just seems to...

    Cementing the roof....

Hi, Firstly let me explain myself, I don't claim to be any kind of roofer, so please forgive me if I am using the wrong terminology! So, here's my issue. I have recently noticed dampness on the ceiling / walls of the upstairs rooms on one side of the house. Looking inthe loft the...

    The Saga continues....Please Help!!

Just thought id post an update on the problem that hasn't gone away. The x800 is in the system circulating 4 radiators (out of 10). All radiators do get hot eventually, but the rooms can never get above 16deg because the boiler keeps cutting out (flame). I also timed how long the heat from...

    The Saga continues....Please Help!!

Gas112 is this the round strainer in the return pipe T piece? If so, I have checked this and there is nothing in it, not even a bit of black gunk. I now have sentenil x800 in the system an am running the boiler with only 2 bad rads open. They get hot but it takes an age!

    The Saga continues....Please Help!!

When I do this, the rads begin to warm up slightly more. Warmth travels up over the top of the rad then back down to the return side (I have flushed these rads with a hose in the garden). But the boiler cuts out too quickly for it to ever get up to temperature. I haven't tried just one...

    The Saga continues....Please Help!!

I checked the return, and right enough, there is a strainer mesh at the valve. Unfortunately, its spotless! The system was changed from open vented ie storage tank etc to combi about 9 years ago. The pipe work is 20mm (I THINK.) For both feed and return. I assume these go to manifolds...

    The Saga continues....Please Help!!

Thanks for the responses, Gigz, all returns are open...... Blagard, this is the second Diverter valve they have installed! It was Scottish Power who done it. I insisted the change it for another after the first due to this problem. So they came, fitted another one, and no change. But your...

    The Saga continues....Please Help!!

first a bit of back ground to the problem. I have a Potterton performa 28i which has just had the Diverter valve changed. Since changing this, only half the heating appears to work (upstairs). The downstairs radiators have hot water getting to them, but is cold at the return side. I have...

    Microbore Pipe Cleaning

Hi Gigz, no your not repeating anything. I will certainly try that! Although the heating was working fine before the Diverter valve was installed so not sure what else would have changed. But for the sake of a 10 min job I'll give it a go!

    Microbore Pipe Cleaning

Hi, I'm looking for some advice on cleaning the microbore pipes in my house due to a suspected blockage. Some might already know, that the Diverter valve on my potterton performa 28i changed out (twice). Since then the system hasn't worked properly. Essentially only 50% of the radiators...

    Potterton 28i Combi Diverter Issue?

Tony, you wouldn't believe it!!! Like I have said, I went from having a weep on the Diverter valve (So I was loosing pressure over the space of 3 - 4 hours). To now having 50% of my Rads operational and no hot water! Since just before Christmas for this one fault (the weep) they have...

    Potterton 28i Combi Diverter Issue?

Unbelievable!!!! Just had the Scottish Power Guy (sorry can't call him an 'Engineer') round again to fit another Diverter Valve. The Bad news is, the problem hasn't gone away! So could this be blocked pipes then? They were fine before the valve was originally replaced!! Even worse now...

    Potterton 28i Combi Diverter Issue?

Hi Tony, Whats the problem with 8mm (microbore) pipes? I thought this was quite common? I am going to check the plate heat exchanger for any heat when the heating is on. Obviously, there shouldn't be any heat it when the heating is on. But there is, surely this suggests the diverter valve...

    Potterton 28i Combi Diverter Issue?

Hi, I thought I'd post an update on this one as the Saga continues! I am still with inter mittent heating and good old Scottish Power seem to be making a meal of this fault. I had one of their guys around yesterday to (what I thought) fix the problem. However, he quickly installed a...

    Potterton 28i Combi Diverter Issue?

Ha ha, Well even I knew that, and I'm a spark! It was when he asked for the hair dryer after he had switched the boiler on I knew he had blew it (literally). Anyway, so can a sparky (me) balance the heating? I thought my trick with closing the rads would do a similar thing but to no...

    Potterton 28i Combi Diverter Issue?

Hi all, Just looking for your opinion on this. My Diverter Valve was recently leaking and as I have a cover policy I had Scottish Power out to look at it. They decided that they needed to change the valve as the couldn't get it open to chenge the stem. Anyway, they guy came to change...
