Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

and I thought that I'd had such a good day.... even the wife was pleased for once.... now it's the silent treatment again.... :( So when they come to cap that bare area on the angle of the 'L' in the morning, should I not allow them to do any more capping or say what's been said here? I...

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

Looks like my parade is well and truly p***ed on, they are coming back tomorrow to put another piece of capping over the area where you can still see and touch the earth wire at the angle of the 'L' shaped run. So in summary I have to say that it doesn't comply with current 17 regs because...

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

ahh I can see the difference now. Damn, this is going to be awkward as I am not a sparky and can't tell them their job. Any tips on stuff I can put to them? Am I supposed to get a certificate of safety for the job?

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

Why are you hmming so much? Thats not breeze block, it's thermal aircon block which is like butter compared. I was told that if chased in and capped then there is no prescribed safe zone under the current regs and that this would be fine. I also asked about running in the cavity but that's...

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

Well what a day! I went to Taylor-wimpey around 9.45 and they had someone telephone from Clarkson Evans within an hour to arrange an assessment of the install. The engineers came at 1400 hrs and found the tails were going diagonally and not straight up the wall! They replaced the tails and...

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

Just met with a really efficient and friendly Customer Service manager in Taylor-Wimpey, who is going to get on the case for me, so fingers xed! Apparently the installation company is Clarkson-Evans electrical contractors who are a national firm, so watch this space!

    Is this electrical work illegal

Excellent advice from John and I completely agree that water ingress into the top of the shower unit is very possible. From what I can recall that type of showerunit has an integral pump within it, which powers the flow. Get them to put it all in writing or threaten to pull the contract for breach.

That looks like the feed supply to the powered shower unit and no it doesn't look a safe install!

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

I will update this thread when I get some response from Bryant. In the meantime would there be a record of who performed the electrical work with some central agency like a trade body?

As the tails are already just behind the inner skin wouldn't it be better to just run them in the cavity instead of through that thermal block as it is currently.

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

Yes I don't fancy the cables being visible externally or with trunking internally. The meter box is recessed into the wall so the back of the box must be in contact (or nearly in contact) with the thermal block wall that you can see internally. There is no cavity wall insulation (another query...

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

The tails come in through the bottom as you state. The delay in my toilet renovations is what I am worried about as this could drag on for ages provided that they respond! Those wires have almost got me twice as I had resited the toilet roll holder to the site you can see on the pics and the...
