Problem with Vertical radiator only heating some elements

I think these rads are only to be used on closed/sealed heating systems with pressures up to 3 bar or so the instructions say. Did you get it sorted? Was there any blockage in your system?

    draughty toilet overflow!

Got a problem with a freezing cold downstairs toilet! When the heating is off the huge draught blowing in through the outside overflow pipe into the toilet cistern is making the problem worse! Is there a flutter valve type device on the market that I could fit on the end of the outside...

That doesn't surprise me, was it a Bryant built house by any chance? Along with my loft find this week I discovered that there were two sockets (one for w/machine and the other for the fridge) under the utility sink right next to the washing machine feedlines! Not only that but they were stuck...

    Which router

Still would be cheaper and easier to pull the skirting off and make good a repair on the walls than to attempt your scenario. I know what you mean re beading as its horrible and spoils the look of a good floor. Bite the bullet and rip off those skirts.

Was this acceptable practice in a loft space back in 1995?

Looking through the gil-lec website and have come across these WAGO push wire connectors that come in 2 4 6 or 8 pole versions. They look much better than chockblocks but would they fit in the chocbox enclosures ok? Sparky 123- have you any experience of them- are they any good?

    Bathroom Ceiling extractor fan manufacturers

Cheers Taylortwocities. Looks like the Manrose centrifugal fan in the link it is then. btw- The existing ducting was not even secured properly to the existing old fan and there must be about 5m of the stuff when the distance from ceiling hole to loft external wall vent is only 1m...

    Bathroom Ceiling extractor fan manufacturers

What is the favourite make of the pros here? Just been looking through screwfix and see a lot of Manrose stuff thats about half the price of xpelair and ventaxia- is it any good? Decided to replace the old knackered ceiling extractor in a 3m x 2.5m x2.5m en suite and was looking at the manrose...

    Which router

you could use a fein multimaster or a bosch multitool version (same and cheaper ~£60 in bnq- trouble is it would take you an age an wouldn't be neat if used on long lengths of skirting- its great for short runs and for undercutting the architrave around doors etc. If I were you I'd take the...

Don't tell your missus that

Was this acceptable practice in a loft space back in 1995?

Exactly but this wasn't done hence my original question! I guess battening over and clipping could get in the way of laying loftboards unless you use cross battens as a lot recommend anyway rather than direct joist fix. Therein lies another debate for another day! Seriously though, thanks...

Was this acceptable practice in a loft space back in 1995?

Agreed, but the NICEIC link I posted refers to both floor and roof joists so it must therefore be allowed if you follow their guidelines?!

Was this acceptable practice in a loft space back in 1995?

An A-frame is a basic structure designed to bear a load in a lightweight economical manner. The simplest form of an A-frame is two similarly sized beams, arranged in a 45-degree or greater angle, attached at the top. These materials are often wooden or steel beams attached at the top by rope...
