Stud partition walls on first floor landing, advice please.

No theres no loft room or basement room. Im presuming they are saying that without these 'cardboard' :x walls then fire can spread easier? Thabks for helping, its really appreciated.

Stud partition walls on first floor landing, advice please.

Hi and thanks, it is a normal 3 bed family house, ground floor and first floor. Each bedroom and bathroom has a door that opens onto the landing with the stairwell running up the middle. Is there anyone else apart from building regs I can get in, they scare the hell out of me!!

Stud partition walls on first floor landing, advice please.

Thanks for replying. Its my buyers lender who wants to know. Theyve said I need a letter confirming that the studded walls we've removed werent originally put there for a fire break or for fire purposes. This originally started when surveyor said that it appears structural alteration has been...

Thanks everyone. I feared it would have to come off again. Ah well. Job for the weekend. Whats easy for some is a nightmare for others...LOL I now understand why its expensive to pay for doors to be hung. Thanks again.

    Door wont fit anymore....

Sorry forgot to add........ Theres no room for adjustment on the (hinge side) bottom of the door either. Its touching the door casing when shut.

    Door wont fit anymore....

mmmmmm there isnt a gap!!!!!  Its like the whole of the bottom half of the door is to wide. The top half of the door would fit IF I could only shut the door. The bottom half (lock side) is about 1 cm too wide :( Planer or chisel ????

    Door wont fit anymore....

Thanks big all. Theres no gap at the bottom (hinge side) when shut so I presume this is why its bouncing back? Theres a gap the rest of the length though. I tightenned the screws at the bottom more than the top to try and 'bring it in' at the bottom to make it fit? Looking at it now, it looks...

    Door wont fit anymore....

Thanks for replying. The door swings free until its nearly closed, then its 'tight' and feels like it wants to 'bounce' back. Its now the right length, its the width of the door at the bottom thats the problem, thats why Im confused as it fits fine width wise in to the casing all the way until...

    Door wont fit anymore....

Before I waffle on just thought Id mention that DIY is not my strong point  Last year we had new floor covering put down and the firm that did it removed the internal door and didnt put it back as it would no longer fit because of the door plate. We were thinking of having new doors so...

    Please help, cold radiator

Yes agree not a good service. Honestly dont think this bloke was trying to rip us off, we see him regularly in the local pub, think he was trying to palm us off really. We are the sort of people that if somethings going to go wrong, then it goes wrong for us! We stayed in the gas care after...

    Please help, cold radiator

Thanks everyone, I now have a perfectly working radiator :D Was telling my Mums friends about this post and her hubby came round tonight and fixed it, so much for the 'expert' gas man and his flushing suggestion. I dont know what he did but he did something to the valve. Its awful isnt it...

    Please help, cold radiator

Thanks for all the advice. As you may have guessed Im a typical female who is clueless when it comes to things like this. The system is old but the boiler is 3 yrs old and the bloke who fit the boiler flushed it out. We are in British gas 3 star and its the engineer from there that suggested...

    Please help, cold radiator

Thanks that makes sense. The small radiator was on originally but was turned off to try and make the next radiator generate more heat on the advice of the gas man. I seem to remember him saying that because it was the last radiator and because it had been turned off the sludge that had...

    Please help, cold radiator

Sorry, we had a new combi boiler fitted 3 years ago to the existing radiators, (bloke who fitted it said the radiators etc would withstand this) and had one small additional radiator fitted at the same time(this is the one that no longer works). Gas man who services our boiler annually says...

    Please help, cold radiator

Our system worked perfectly until it was serviced. We asked the man if one of radiators didnt get as warm because of age, size etc. He said that the system wasnt brilliant and if we turned the furthest radiator off (new) then the suspect radiator would get warmer. He did this and the warm...
