    raised deck posts onto slabs

right slabs it is then thanks. the 4 posts which will be furthest away from my house will be concreted/postcreted in, this area is grass at the moment and i have dug a couple of test holes to see what the ground is like. its full of half bricks and lumps of sandstone but with the use of a pinch...

    raised deck posts onto slabs

ok thanks !! so hows this for an idea ( if its stupid tell me but be gentle lol) where the posts would be on the bit which is concrete under the slabs which are on the worst slope i could dig down to the concrete ( 6 inch depth) and use post crete to make a sort of pillar which would sit on top...

    raised deck posts onto slabs

on reflection its probably about 6 inch of soil but anyway i think the concrete may be to cover the sewerage pipes the soil pipe from the toilet goes into the ground and there is a drain vent where the slabs are. the concrete itself underneath is very rough and slopes the same as the slabs its...

    raised deck onto sloping slabs

im a tommy walsh man myself lol ! yeah i wasnt too sure about putting heavy decking onto slabs which were not level as i said digging out and concreting is not an option and as i already have the slabs i thought it might be easier to try and level the ground then re lay the slabs and stand the...

    raised deck posts onto slabs

is it ok to lay slabs which will support raised decking onto soil ? the soil would be 3/4 inches deep with solid concrete underneath. there would be 8 4x4 inch posts supported on the bolt down type of post feet each one would be sitting on one concrete paving slab (measuring 3 ftx 2 ft @2"...

    raised deck onto sloping slabs

the post feet i have bought are the bolt down type not the concrete in type and if you do mean concrete in type footings then that is out of the question as water and sewer pipes are under where the decking/posts would be ( i assume thats why it is solid concrete) and the ground is solid...

    raised deck onto sloping slabs

i am fitting raised decking in the back garden, the area near the house is slabed but it is on a slope it drops around 1 foot from one end of the deck to the other so the slabs are on a fair old slope. i will be using post feet to keep the timber off the slabs. i was wondering whether cutting...

    decking

well with respect i didnt know it all along thats why i asked ! I have taken the guys points on board i was merely trying to explain my take on it. its a raised deck and until i have the 4x2 joists on top of the 6x2 bearers to link them all up (in which case i agree totally that they wont move)...

    decking

fair enough but as i said as i see it surely it would make things a lot easier if the posts were secure and didnt move when i was building the rest of the decking on top of them (even just one bolt or something per post foot to hold them in place)

    decking

thanks for the reply and i realise the weght will keep it down when its built but it would make things a lot easiear when building the rest of the decking onto the posts if they stayed put. i really would rather secure them to the ground.

    decking

can i please ask some advice from the members of this forum i am going to build some raised decking but the ground is not level (but i can level it if needed). i am a very reluctant to and would rather not fit a ledger as i have heard horror stories about splitting bricks etc, and as for digging...
