    changing lock action

This question came up recently see:-http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=241637 It all depends on the type of multi-point system originally installed. The legality of it is debatable the most modern of flats have locking systems were it is impossible to lock yourself in and can always...

    upvc door locks

I think what you are talking about is a snapsafe cylinder. You would be able to tell is you have one already by removing your present cylinder and seeing if it has a slot or slots in the barrel. Slots would be snapsafe, no slots not snapsafe. More information is available on the Squire web site...

    DBB mortiser any good?

Well nothing is cheap. The older style of cutter, it slips on to the shaft and is removed by pushing a release on the cutter, are now being sold off by various lock wholesalers. The wholesaler I use had a box full last week. Have a look at:- http://skskeys.co.uk/listings/lock-fitting-tools/...

    DBB mortiser any good?

For me the DBB moticer comes into its own when adapting say an ill fitted cheap lock to a five lever BS lock. It allows you to remove the inconsistencies in someone elses work. There are two versions of the DBB morticer, the latest having a better means of attaching the cutters and improved...

    Window without a catch/latch?!

I do not think I can be more specific, it will depend on the amount of room that is available between the window and the frame but look at http://www.handlestore.com/rest-popup.php?id=23 would this be a suitable fitting for you ? You may find that the window hinges can be tightened to hold the...

    Window without a catch/latch?!

I think what you have in mind is a window restrictor or limiter. Usually used to stop children falling out of an open window but I think these may suit your needs. Look at http://www.handlestore.com/restrictors.php DC Teamlocksmiths

What sort of locks do I have? Home insurance...

No certainly not BS 3621. If you do not have a mortice lock fitted below this lock then this door will into fall into Go-compare option "other" and the back doors "key operated multipoint locking system". My best advice would be for you to fit a mortice lock to BS3621 2007 such as the Union...

What sort of locks do I have? Home insurance...

A night latch is just that, a latch. It offers little or no protection from attack. Hopefully you are using this term to discribe a rim cylinder lock. As Crank says "picture" please then we can give you some meaningful advice. DC Teamlocksmiths

Replacement lock & handle for frameless glass door

Could you post a picture ? The normal UK insurance standard would be a lock to British Standard 3621. This can be achieved by a mortice lock or a high end cylinder lock. Best guess is that you will looking for a euro cylinder (single or double) but without a picture it is difficult to give you...

Multipoint Locking System - any experts out there..?

Yes it is possible to modify some multi-points but it depends on the system. No you can not easily fit a rim lock type installation because the multi-point runs through the door. There is a North South divide on how these systems work it seems in the North they prefer turn the handle and you...

    Mechanical Codelocks on UPVC doors

Not if the door is secured with a multi-point mechanism that runs the length of the door. It is also the reason that you will not see a mortice lock (Chubb or similar) fitted to a upvc door fitted with a multi-point. The multi-point is in the way. DC. Teamlocksmiths.

Set of instructions. missing lever for 5 lever mortice lock

The same range of locks, but that is a sashlock, it is a variant of your lock but with a latch and would need a handle set. Also 3in, yours is 2.5in. You could always buy the ebay one and remove the lever set and install them in your lock. That way you have a virtually new lock with three new...

missing lever for 5 lever mortice lock

Well, I like a challenge but I do not think that I can help you. I believe that the lock is a Sterling 5 lever mortice, conforming to the British Standard 3621-2004. Sterling make locks at the more economical end of the security scale. I do not have any levers for this lock. My best advice...

missing lever for 5 lever mortice lock

Matthew Your reference WO/2005/054608 is a patent. http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?wo=2005054608&IA=GB2004004342&DISPLAY=STATUS I do not know the lock that it refers to. More details are required for anybody to assist. As John says a photo of the lock and of the key would help. DC...

    Rotolock key missing

Having read all the previous posts I belive that the person that received the roto keys had a window locking handle problem. Thus a standard key, used for all of the same type of handle was supplied. I think you have a euro-cylinder, it would be relativly unique. You would not want anyone to be...

Bathroom Lock on bi-fold sliding door

I have no knowledge of the Schlage lock. I know the Union range and have fitted claw locks. The opening of this version is controlled by the use of suitable door furniture, inside a thumbturn and outside something like a 2p coin. It looks as though the Schlage lock will do the job but to me it...

Bathroom Lock on bi-fold sliding door

Another alterative ? http://www.directlocks.co.uk/union-2426-turn-operated-clawbolt-sliding-door-locks-p-1434.html I think you will get this cheaper elsewhere. You will also need suitable door furniture. DC Teamlocksmiths
