I just wanted to know how many turns in your opinions was good for a hot water cylinder thread - as didn't want to drain down and redo. I am not saying they are easy and know they are far from it, a lot are basic checks though/.common sense - but some posters make them to be rocket science

well i guess depends what they are - with the manual yes of course - i can use a multimeter !

Why people make boiler breakdown's out to be rocket science is beyond me - it is NOT!!!!!! just attend manufcaturer courses, read manuals and get practice! It is harder than installing them but with a brain and the manuals you can do it !!

according to the user manual it is a flue/fan fault - so get a RGI to check these if problem stays - resetting may do the trick if nothing major though.

when you reset the boiler does the fault happen again? or has resetting it sorted it?

Agile I agree with you, but to test parts on a boiler faults can be find, also knowing the components the boiler has it's operating sequence etc - pumps and fans can stick / wear out btw!! for eg if a boiler was not sparking but the fan was running as a check you'd go for fan speed, air...

why make it sound nearly impossible to do boiler breakdowns! I know of a few people who do them and they are certainly no Stephewn Hawkins IQ level!!

What courses would you recommend now for boiler fault finding/repairs? A wireless netbookn then a safe bet?!

you'd still need the MI though surely for fault coees and to replace parts... Are these books quite new ?

are there any good courses available? I'd be with a company. How do you get online if you're in someone's house or in the van?!

seco services i apologise mate - my cistern is like you shown bolts go threw the cistern :cry: how can I avoid the leaks?

there is a plate under the cistern - i can see the nut heads (wing nuts) - there's a donut washer in betwene cistern and pan
