    Central Heating Questions and Help

interesting info. thanks d-hailsham. so obviously the modern stats (or digistats) without an anticipator do not need the neutral wire as the thermistor is battery operated or mains operated, ie from the common terminal?

    Replacing radiator valves with TRV's

i have changed rad alves / tails before and usually most are 1/2" - with the trv being fitted to 15mm diameter pipes. but if your old tail is 3/4" to 15mm pipe then yes change the tail as well as the valve!!!

    Central Heating Questions and Help

yep that's right - so basically the air vent being on the flow means less chance of air being drawn into the system, through micro leaks, etc?

    2 Heating questions please

if orange has 100v live when both h/w and heating are satisfied then the pump and boiler will still be on (orange live means pump and boiler live). Also if grey only live + 100v on orange as you say (held in last position if both hw and htg sat but programmer still on) does the grey staying...

    2 Heating questions please

thanks seco - i will use sentinel x400 tonight (from the mighty b & q)! and order up a new valve from screwfix. one last point: you say grey only is valve held in last position (eg when h/w and heating both satisfied but programmer still on, but is there any voltage to orange whilst this is...

    2 Heating questions please

seco thanks for clearing that up - also is this true: when programmer time switches off power (eg at 9am), the valve returns to it's rest position (usually h/w port open) and )o voltage to any of the wires (obviously)! :_

seco-thing is when hot water is on only (on its own) it is fine and no heating is on (sound white is not live obviously). so maybe the valve isn't returning properley to its rest position after having both h.w and heating on together? maybe the spring is knackered or some crud has got into...

    2 Heating questions please

when heating is calling only (on a motorised alve-honeywell v407) the white wire will be live (from the room stat making) and then the motorised alve motor moves across and makes the orange wire live (which is also connected to the same terminal box as the live for the pump and boiler). this...

    plastic float valve dripping/noise problem

Hi seco, thanks for the quick respone. I haven't put a new torbeck in, just a normal plastic type (part 3 ) valve from B & Q! Was under a fiver!! I was looking at fluidmaster valves but they seem too big for my cistern, especially with the box type filling mechanism at the bottom. I...
