    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

@EddieM I agree with your statement about having the knowledge for the pros. I am still learning but who isnt? I am very much into woodworking and love making new things for the house garden presents for people whatever it maybe. Just recently I made some planters for the garden out of decking...

    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

I have been looking around and Dewalt and Hitatchi seem to have really good reviews and recommendations. Would you be able to get say a 10" blade for a mitre saw which would be able to cut say a 300mm piece of wood at 90 degrees? What are peoples recommendations for whats out on the market...

    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

Thanks for getting back to me. The current tasks for it would be making some planters at various angles. (The other half wants the garden to look a bit different and unique) so I would need multiple precise angles and just some normal rectangular angles. I will also be making some picture frames...

    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

Thanks for the explanation jobandknock its cleared things up. :) Thanks for the link Roger928 however that's double what I have to pay! I would like to get a stand as well at some point but I think that would be either with the saw or after price dependant. What would you guys recommend which...

    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

Thanks all for the replies. So to clarify the number of bevels does that mean if it tilts just one way or both ways? If so what would be the benefit of having it go just one or both ways? Also any suggestions for something around the £250ish mark for a good quality mitre saw? Also I would like...

    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

Ah right so to find the angle literally just subtract 90 from it and cut at that angle on the mitre saw? And I presume if it's much bigger you divide by 2 and subtract 90? So if the angle was say 240 degrees? Thanks James

    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

Thank you both for your replies. I would be cutting up planks into shorter pieces and also cutting at angles. I will take a look at the saws you have mentioned @Roger928. What would I be looking for as good qualities such as lights? laser pointer lines? No of bevels? Angle of swing on both...

    Table Saw Vs Mitre Saw

Hello, I am looking at investing in a mitre saw and I am wondering what the difference is between that and a table saw. I currently have a table saw which works fine but people say that the mitres aren't very accurate on a table saw and a mitre saw would be better. If a mitre saw is worth it...

    Woodworking Books

So what books would people recommend for routing? I know @JobAndKnock said to stay away from US books so what UK based books would you recommend on routing and the use of a router table?

    Making Circles

@Roger928 sorry I am trying to understand and learn what you mean. I have tried googling it to find out and the only thing I can find is gluing two boards together for strength which I can't see how that would bring out the center bit. Would I be better with the mortising bit as @JobAndKnock...

    Making Circles

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by the laminated face to face glue up to clear the middle? I was thinking it would need to be a 19mm cutter to do the circumference giving a 38mm hole which would be the closest thing from what I have seen on the net so far..

    Making Circles

No I haven't. So I literally have a template of the size I want and just follow it round the template? The thing I am struggling with is you said about only doing the circumference but how does the middle part get done? This is why I thought you needed a specific sized cutter.... I also...

    Making Circles

So you would need a specific sized cutter with the template so it makes the entire hole in the circumference pass? Thanks James

    Making Circles

So if I understand correctly you have a template piece the size you need it in this case 40mm and you follow that round with the stock underneath making your hole? I presume for any areas in the middle you could just move the cutter where ever needed to remove the stock? Thanks James

    Making Circles

I think it might be and I haven't as of yet no I can give it a go though. Do you think it will make any difference? These are only test pieces from the local timber yard scrap bin it will be done on a piece of pine eventually. Thanks James

    Making Circles

It is a 40mm diameter recess about 6mm deep. With what I have its the only cutter I can use to get that given the diameter with the hole saw templates I have and my only one guide bush. I get the same issue with the 19mm cutter. So you think it's when I am going deeper and think possibly the...

    Making Circles

@JohnD It is the holes which I am after. @Roger928 I have no issue with sanding its just I thought it would be easier to have the cutter make the bottom smooth to save time and sanding if possible. I am using a circle template made from a hole saw and using a straight cutter with a 24mm guide...
