    3-Phase or Not?

A fortnight ago, I got new motors fitted outside and every 10 minutes or so the motors kickin for a second or two. When they kickin, the whole lights in the house go dim for a second as if someone was trying out the electric chair. My gf has blamed this as the cause of my 4-month old LCD tv...

Changing from Economy Seven storage heating

Sorry to jump in but can E7 be put onto a different meter in your house? For example, I have two meters in my meter cupboard with one operating the outside electrics and the other for the house/inside electrics. Is it possible to have the E7 just for outside and the house on normal rate...

    cable/satalite in every room

If you are planning to split distribute the tv in the atic for example, you are best to get an amplifier. I purchased an SLX Gold 6 Way Tv Aerial - Amplifier from TLC this morning so I can run the likes of a Sky remote from an room using one of those tvlink eye jobies. If you were to use...

Wiring a 48 Hour Time Clock

So I fit the Isolator between the immersion and Timer switch instead of having it before the Timer switch. Makes sense.

Wiring a 48 Hour Time Clock

Your probably right. I'll hunt for the documentation of the heater and confirm what you've stated but I expect you to be correct. btw, should I bother with an Isolator?

Wiring a 48 Hour Time Clock

I had a good look at the heater and timer switch to see what's needed and I'ts just dawned on me it's a double immersion heater which needs a 32a supply. I only had the one wired with a plug. I have the 32a mcb but the 20a Isolator is no use now. Now the biggest problem is the timer...

Wiring a 48 Hour Time Clock

Cheers folk. Yes it's pretty much an immersion heater. I'll have to get a 16a mcb then. Is 1.5mm 3 Core Heat Resistant Flex still to be used despite it's near enough outdoor location? btw, I am exempt from Part P. Lucky Me.

Wiring a 48 Hour Time Clock

It's been running on a 13a fuse/plug for the past 2 weeks fine. With the timer, it will run for a couple of hours every 2nd day. I've a spare 32a mcb in my cu not being used so I wonder if I can still use that with the 20a Isolator acting as the breaker?

Wiring a 48 Hour Time Clock

Not Really. Do you agree or disagree with the FCU? I've seen some fitted with an Isolator hence why I mentioned it plus the fact I've a 20a Isolator lying here doing nothing.

Wiring a 48 Hour Time Clock

I've got a new water heater tank fitted outside and I currently have it connected to a socket via plug. My 48 hour time clock arrived yesterday so I need to fit it so that the heater comes on during the night. Should I connect the clock to a 20a Isolator etc and use a 16A MCB at the cu...

    cable/satalite in every room

If you plan to use cat5e for the networking and phones, you will need to get yourself a patch panel cabinet. In the cabinet you will need to get yourself a phone panel and a data panel which sits inside the cabinet. You will wire your phone line into the phone panel and using patch cable...
