Forgot to mention, we have the downpipe from the roof about 10 feet away from the soakaway, can we just redirect the pipes into that ? I don't know where that soakaway goes, probably into the other neighbors garden.

Can I get someone like the local council building regs involved, or will they not be interested ? The conservatory has been up for about 6 months, will the footings have suffered any damage in this time or will they be ok ? Thanks for all your guys info on this one, much appreciated.

I believe that the footings are about 18 inches or so, not sure how deep the soakaway was, but the footings will not be deeper than the soakaway. If the conservatory company will not relocate the soakaway, is there anything I can do to make them ? Thanks for all your advice Richard

Hi Slugbabydotcom, The system is a pressurised system. I presumed as much with the rad's upstairs, and as they are the cheap older models with the valves at the back, they cannot be replaced, so I will have to replace the rad's. Regards Richard

The British Gas engineer replaced the unit because the pin wasn't moving correctly because of a buildup of limescale.

I am pretty sure that the microswitch was not changed as part of the unit replacement. The British Gas engineer changed the unit that has the 4 or more pipes coming out of it. This part is all nice and shiny and new. The microswitch is still covered in fluff and dust so looks to me like it...
