New light switch wiring wrong? HELP!

99er, it might be an idea to carefully but clearly photograph the various connection points in your installation and provide those pictures here to aid those giving you advice. From your description, it sounds a bit dangerous, particularly if this involves wiring exposed outdoors, so be careful.

    kitchen lighting

Jim, two bullets on the IKEA page for these lights suggest that they're not really designed for such a purpose, more so for feature lighting: - Concentrated light beam; good for highlighting a picture or other objects. - Wide light beam; good for lighting part of a wall or bookcase. I...

In my kitchen, I have an electric oven unit with integrated ceramic hob currently sat in my breakfast bar island - I'm getting rid of that and replacing it with a new built-under oven and a separate new Induction hob set into the worktop directly above the new double-oven. At present, the...

    Boring lighting diagram check!

Hi EFL, just an update on this - I finally finished the installation and then fitted the new ceiling, and following your advice about being accessible, I detached the junction box from the joist giving it the capability to drop down through the downlighter hole incase of future maintenance...

How to even floor between previous kitchen & diner

Just an update on this one - after taking some spirit level measurements, I found that the concrete side of the room was actually the same level, it was simply the side of the concrete which joined the wood floor which seemed to bevel up giving the impression that it was higher. So...I dug...

    LED Under Kitchen Unit Lights

Cool, thanks - do you think that 30pm would be sufficient as there's quite a cost difference in terms of the LED's and the supporting transformer which has to be bigger? Its only for illuminating the floor around the base units so it doesn't need to be floodlighting.

    LED Under Kitchen Unit Lights

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has installed the LED RGB strip style lighting under their floor standing kitchen units (not wall units) and if so if they're happy with the concept overall? http://www.ledlightszone.co.uk/led-tape/60-flexible-led-strips-non-waterproof-72w-30pcs.html...

How to even floor between previous kitchen & diner

Hi all, I took a wall down between my kitchen and dining room and now intend to lay a wooden laminate floor throughout - however the kitchen side has a concrete floor, the dining room side has a wooden floorboard floor and they're not quite the same height (concrete side is higher). What...

Power for an Island Cooker Hood?

You're very predictable, its a pattern then many have spotted and are very aware of, after-all you're not any more qualified than most if at all, you're just a DIYer yourself - so what makes you any better (and I don't mean with 'copy and paste')? Whenever a user asks for assistance, on this...
