    Best way to strip gloss?

As above There is quite a lot of gloss work in the house and my last attempt at decorating wasn't the best  i'm thinking of stripping it back to bare wood and starting again especially the staircase  I'm sure i saw a product on a DIY show that was like a paste and...

    Cutting in

I've got the Girlfriend moving in next week and would you believe it...she doesn't like my decor, so i sense some forced painting and decorating coming on  I've painted quite a few rooms before and my main problem is always the cutting in  i just can't get a neat finish, last...

    Cutting door frames

Hi Thought i'd ask this while the Mrs is watching Jane Ayre  We're planning on laying new laminate or wood flooring on the ground floor (through lounge/diner) and I want it to go under the door frames rather than cut around them, but i've never done it, or seen it done, so just...

    Combi recomendations

I'm really grateful for all the replies!! I've decided to get the diaphragm changed and see whether that cures it. seems like the best solution for our circumstances, as we had absolutely no problems at all up until this point (apart from a noisy fan  ) Seems like the most logical...

    Combi recomendations

I was just trying to get it straight in my head, not being funny. I'm swaying towards repair now anyway as i didn't realise that this was a pretty good boiler.

    Combi recomendations

Problem found, I hope! Spoke to Worcester's technical helpline, and they assure me the diverter valve is at fault. The pin that operates the micro switch is not moving out far enough when taps are turned on, and if you operate the switch manually...hey presto, the boiler fires up for hot...

    Combi recomendations

Me again  So, after being told that we have a top class boiler, i've seen sense and decided to repair it. Two questions: Where is best to buy the parts? (Fan and PCB) I've noticed a small water drip from the underside of the boiler, just below the water-water heat exchanger. All...

    Combi recomendations

I do see your point, but my reasoning behind it is that we may spend X amount of money replacing the fan and PCB only to find that we still get no hot water, and before you know it, it can be up to the price of a new boiler

Thanks for the advice mate It's 22mm at the meter and the boiler, so i'm assuming its the same underfloor, but assumption can be dangerous :!: i'll get the floor up and check it out

What if the new boiler has the same specs as the old? (same 24kw and flow rate etc)

    Combi recomendations

Thanks Agile...top advice!! The boiler will be going onto the existing pipework so i dont see any problems with the sizing. I'm going to suggest to my Dad that we hire a powerflushing machine for a day to be on the safe side. Incidentally, does this need to be done before removing the old...

    Combi recomendations

The fan needs replacing, and following the fault diagnosis methods in the manual, the circuit board is also faulty. Having said that, it hasn't gone wrong in the two years we've been here and i'm pretty sure it's about 10 years old (it's a 24CDi RSF) My dad can fit the new boiler so we...

Cheers for the suggestions. I've read that worcesters can be unreliable (ours has just gone :( ) is this just the exception to the rule? The vaillant's look very good, but are pretty expensive

    Combi recomendations

We're going to take the plunge and replace our old worcester combi with a nice new condensing boiler. I'm just starting to look, but could do with a bit of advice on what to look for. We're in a standard 2 bed semi and the current boiler is 24kw and does the job well enough (or did until...

    Combi boiler service

No need to be like that. I just wanted to have at least an idea of what i wanted, so i dont get the wrong thing I wont ask in future

    Combi boiler service

My dad is coming round to look at our boiler on Sunday (Worcester 24 cdi). We only get hot water while the boiler is fired up for the central heating, so we're thinking it's most likely the diverter valve. The boiler is long overdue a service, so I thought now would be the ideal time! i'm...

    Injector Treatment

I've just bought a bottle of injector cleaner, and the instructions say to add the contents to 1/4 tank of fuel and then fill up. I currently have 3/4 tank. Would it make any difference if i added it now and topped up the petrol? Thanks

    Are Heat Shields a MUST?

I wouldn't bother mate. I've had a few cars with noisey heat shields and i've taken them off without any problems. Just to be sure, have a look under the car and make sure there is nothing close to the exhaust that's being affected by the heat
