Im having this problem right now and untill the gasman comes on thursday ive found that running the hot tap on only a quarter turn and having the sink cold tap slowly running gives water hot enough for a bath.Its only a temp fix though.

Sounds more like the icv valve is sticking. The idle speed control valve is what stops your engine from stalling when coming to a stop. Find it and clean it out with carb cleaner, it would most likely sort out your problems.

You probably have a water leak from somewhere that is settling in the foam under the carpets. The sunroof drains being blocked are a common cause. What car is it? Rub your hand over the carpets in the footwell and check for dampness.

The throttle body butterfly can get gunked up and start to stick which can cause problems with these cars. Remove the tubing from the airbox to the throttle body and give it a good blast with carb cleaner. Yours should have the metal butterfly so it should not warp as the earlier plastic ones...

A fan belt sounds the likely culprit, a really high pitched squeal. A new belt does not always cure it though, the pulleys can go shiney and cause even new belts to squeal.
