Thanks for that cjard. Seems to me that with so many people reporting a similar problem its not really working properly. Who wants to wait 5 minutes for their pc cpu usage to settle down every few minutes? That's the problem I am trying to eliminate when I removed windows defender. Also how do...

Downloaded Spybot. Part of this program has a thing called TeaTimer.exe that uses up more CPU than my original problem. Hence no improvement. Is this normal?

    CPU Usage

Hi, I have removed Windows Defender whilst I was reading some reports on it and I am now wondering is it worth reloading it. There seems to be lots of problems with it not working correctly and mainly not doing what it claimed to do, i.e. remove spyware. Any recommendations of other products...

Preparing to wallpaper - what now?

Hanging the lining paper horizontally is done so as to avoid vertical seams lining up between lining paper and wallpaper. Probably best to size the walls first. Good luck.

The problem seems to be coming from MsMpEng.exe which is something to do with Windows Defender I believe. Its showing 31464k RAM usage but according to microsoft this should only be 14032bytes. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Preparing to wallpaper - what now?

Fill in all the big holes and gouges, Remove all loose and flaking paint. Cover walls in a good quality lining paper, hanging the strips horizontally. Then hang your wallpaper as normal. Not sure what the professionals would say but it worked for me.

    Cleaning Dirty Ceiling

I have a large artexed ceiling to paint, that is very dirty, mainly black dust, blown in from the tarmac crusher next door. I have vacuumed as much as I can. I know it should be sugar soaped and clean water washed but the area 9m x 4.5m is a bit daunting and arm aching. Is there any other way...

    Zannussi ZWF1421W Washing Machine

When plumbed into the utility room if you happened to touch the drum and the adjacent ss sink unit with the power on, ouch! a shock, reading 110VAC. The fault was isolated to the actual washer machine. The electical supply and earthing are all okay having been checked by an electrician. Fitted...

Any suggestions how to repair a side panel of a kitchen unit carcass where the hinge screw have pulled out of the mdf boarding? Preferably whilst still in place as removal would entail taking out the sink unit and worktops.
