fitting tv into recess on chimney breast

Would it look out of place to have a removable frame around the TV? It could be fixed in place with something like Button fix, which would allow for access to the rear of the TV, and could be remade in the future if you get a slightly different sized one.

    Safe Style Windows

They used the managers phone call trick on us too, although I was expecting it anyway. When he first started pricing up I told him I was expecting around £3K, he laughed and gave me a retail of over £8K (for 2 bay window and 2 other small ones). After applying seemingly endless discounts and...

    Disable smilies

I guess the easiest way would be to include spaces: on : off turnover : profit Sure it looks a bit weird, but much less so than an unwanted emoji I'd say, and quicker than having to faff with tags.

    Overthrown Crank ?

Didn't seem to help though as they still went bankrupt. I hear rumours that SAAB may return, but we'll see.

    Overthrown Crank ?

Yep, really old SAABs used a Triumph based engine, but the more modern ones were mostly based on Vauxhall lumps. Vectra rear suspension and stuff too I believe

Reducing sound through party wall in loft conversion?

Wow, I wouldn't have fancied cutting out around those bricks. You must have the patience of a saint! I'm guessing you're keeping the chimney as a feature.

low mileage car is it too good to be true

Renault do tend to get a bad press due mostly it seems to a few rogue "Friday afternoon specials" that are plagued with problems. My wife has had several though, 2 Clio, 2 Megane, 1 Laguna, and all have been faultless.

    Overthrown Crank ?

Yes, that's the process I was thinking of, but I've never heard it called "overthrown" before. As Keithmac says, normally you'd say stroked.

    Overthrown Crank ?

Beats me, and I've been working on cars for 35 years  Unless he means the crank has been modified / machined / changed to increase its throw, thus "overthrown". A bit like increasing the bore size would be called "overbored" :?:

Ah, well spotted. My mistake. This is how I did mine:

Reducing sound through party wall in loft conversion?

I agree with that, which is what you'll see I did if you read my earlier post. This is different though, he is talking about the space between the studs/battens not being fully filled, not an isolation gap between his new wall and the existing one.

Reducing sound through party wall in loft conversion?

That sounds like excellent stuff :D I'd agree with Doggit, might as well pack it full if you can. I know compressing loft roll is a big no no for thermal insulation, but it can't hurt and may even help acoustically so squish some in there.

    Air compressor fitting

From the length of it I'd be pretty certain it's a standard PCL/ "English" fitting. The sockets on a "Euro"/PCL XF are shorter and more stubby, just like the tailpieces. Plus given the output of that compressor it won't even max out the flow rate of a standard PCL so it's unlikely the...

Reducing sound through party wall in loft conversion?

I used a very similar approach to that shown in your highly detailed technical drawing :D Skip the background if you like but when we moved into our house the neighbours seemed like a perfectly respectable couple, but we soon found out that they fought like cat and dog...

    What is this?

It's made up of several pieces so looks more like some kind of boxing in. Are there pipes running in that area? Boiler or tank cupboard nearby? You can see where the screws are so if you're really curious you could probably remove the cover and have a look.

Finding sheet material (OSB) for shed roof.

Hadn't thought about using some kind of planks. Thanks!

Finding sheet material (OSB) for shed roof.

Hi all. Due to me being lax and not re felting my shed roof last year it now needs replacing! The thin OSB has become water logged and is sagging quite badly. Trouble is, it's an 8 x 10 shed and the (apex) roof is made up of four 5' x 5' sheets. Since most DIY places only sell up to the...

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

2x1 is fine. As fitted to the wall that's 2" high and 1" deep / thick. Perhaps you're thinking of it the wrong way around?
