    Earthing Issue

Hi Folks My Sister just bought a house and it needs loads of work doing to it, new roof, windows, plumbing, central heating, rewire and so. Its one job at a time as she needs to save for each one and it’s a matter of prioritising. Windows and central heating are her first priority as it will...

    Concrete raft for conservatory

Hello peeps I just ordered a DIY lean-to/ conservatory from Wicks and was planning to put it on a concrete raft. It has full length wall panels so will not require a dwarf wall. The base will be 3155mm x 2715mm and a depth of 200mm and will have 9mm mesh wire reinforcement. I am hoping I can...

    Immersion switch flashing

Is it normal for an immersion heater switch to flash inside when it is switched on and off? I have checked the terminals for tightness and they seem ok. I am thinking of replacing the switch with a new one and have been told that I should replace it with a switched spur instead of a 20amp...

cheers for the thoughts Kevplumb. I think my initial thoughts are right and the gas valve will have to go. Will keep you posted. What would you say is a reasonable price for this to be supplied and fitted by a Corgi engineer? i live in the NW

Funny you should say that, I did try this but as soon as the button comes out the pilot goes out. I re-ignite the pilot and the same thing happens. If i just release the button after igniting, the pilot stays on, but if i pull it out the pilot goes out.

Now come on Kev I am sure I said in my original post that I checked the gas valve and was getting 240V which indicated to me that the gas valve had gone and thats why I was looking for a second opinion. So you agree with me that the gas valve has indeed gone. Now if you would have just said that...

Thanks Kev, sorry, my misunderstanding. I agree I will need to get a Corgi guy to fit the gas valve but I was trying to pin it down to that before I did. No offence but I have been ripped off in the past by a Corgi engineer and don't fancy being ripped off again. (long story) So are you guys...

Hi Folks I'm looking for a second opinion The boiler was working fine and just stopped. The pump runs, the boiler has a permanent live and a switched live when calling for heat. The pilot light is lit and the gas valve has 240V when set on high or low demand but the boiler doesn't fire up...
