    New system install......latest recomendations

id agree that vibros can false alarm (ie the cause not known) as they will go off before the breakin. But movement sensors can and do false alarm. Like i said its a preference of mine would be to use vibros over pet tolerant, not over movement sensors in a non pet environment. I know its...

    New system install......latest recomendations

just to add my 2p Sorry but i dont agree, id always fit perimeter protection over space protection in this circumstance. Yes you may get nuisance trips from birds flying into the window, hail etc but you will get an alarm BEFORE the break in occurs not after (ie afetr they have opened the...

How to get an old Omega 5 Alarm working ?

It just needs a reset Granted the omega 5 is knocking on now but if it works and you can ask them to remove eng reset if its audible only when they are there id say stick with it. It was an advanced panel in its day and ripping it out IMO will serve no purpose, get it reset and reprogrammed...

    Advice from Texecom Experts!!

Gees You an RF expert? or have knowledge of RF? The reason i ask is like most engineers i was trained on the implications of RF. I also went through the 'its a myth' period. I did in my time come across issues with RF but i know very little about RF itself. You mention freq and power...

    Advice from Texecom Experts!!

No the excel wont take proximity. The prem does have great manuals but it is a pro panel is all im saying. If you have experience of alarms then you should be ok, but the issue is any pro panel will assume previous experience and training. There are people better placed to help you on here...

    Advice from Texecom Experts!!

Id agree that the battery is too small, id advise a 7A/h esp on a prem. Premiers are good panels and id say that texecom have the best manuals but it is not a diy panel. Easier than most of the bigger panels granted but definetly not diy. You could also do with a fused spur.

    The best alarm panel ?

i think its best if you quantify 'best' Each has their own merits, and each installer will have their own preference. If your asking id advise changing it to 'best in xxx applications' My personal preference is galaxy but for example castle have some unique features

    putting in cctv?

If its just for live use through a tv then i personally wouldnt spend a load of money on high quality camera, this is only needed if recording, this sort of application is basic video access control. There are plenty of half decent economy cameras like listed above but few pro cameras will have...

    Check/Service existing alarm

Robert As one has already stated, if you find a local nsi gold (nacoss) installer they will service your system for you. Id advise you get a few quotes in. There are various reasons that insurance companies prefer an approved system, vetting of staff, guaranteed performance levels...

Veritas 8c - where are the install guides plz

John Getting hold of an engineering manual wont be easy as they are not available for download (Paid or not joe) and the manuals on our site are only user manuals.

    putting in cctv?

There are acts that cover the use of cctv in public places but domestic property's and installations are largly excempt from the dpa. The only major thing i would be worried about (ie my own system) would be if a neighbour takes offence to your cameras. If they can be argued to be a nuisance the...

New video door entry with proximity access for my front door

I also know of a unit that will be perfect for this but is not currently available. I know some details about it but unfortunatly price i do not. Just for my info do you have a budget in mind? I know of IP products for access control (ie cards etc) but not this yet. There are some that use...

Wireless PIR's on a wired system

The bigger texecoms ie the premier will accept a wireless expander, but the veritas will not. The only way is to use a standalone reciever. If you use the risco reciever its the same rf gear as the Eurosec CPX. Personally id plumb for the scantronic rf. But thats just my own personal view...

Wireless PIR's on a wired system

Yes you can but you will need a compatible standalone receiver a Scantronic 762 is a standalone receiver that will accept scantronic wireless sensors, you can then wire the receiver into a spare zone on the R8. Alternatively there is the risco nova 4 that is a stand alone receiver for risco...

Alarm - Where do I start??!!

Joe As a few have noticed when doing the ra a bungalow would be more at risk of this attack than a normal house unless easy access to the roof etc, but tbh id prefer the approach of protecting the roof where the valuables were than the loft but thats generalising. Lofts are very very hostile...

Alarm - Where do I start??!!

Joe Im hoping we can have a decent chat about this. Yes id agree that the majority of 3 up 3 down have on average, a hallway sensor, lounge and dining and depending on RA then kitchen. Also front and maybe rear door. Then landing. But some have a study too, some have an additional sensor in...
