Alarm - Where do I start??!!

As saxondale says get 3 quotes. It would also be a good idea to speak to your insurance comapny to see if they have any requirements. If your looking at a GSM dialler then your gonna spend a lot of your budget on that. Most people think wrongly that a gsm dialler is required for mobile texting...

optima g3 ,outside siren wont stop

sounds to me like cable damage or a problem at the panel end. id be worried that if its cable damage you may have thbe wrong things on the wrong wires and your new sounder may be being damaged. butyou ned to ensure you have 12v at the bell on the holdoff connections first. id also disconnect...

    2 PIR's on 1 cable

saxondale dont suppose you want to explain 4737 section 3.2.2 then do you? The tamper detection bit. But Also have a look at 3.3.2 and the note. The note seems to suggest that tamper detection of the cable is desirable not mandatory. Interpret away?

    2 PIR's on 1 cable

Form 171 is an interpretation document to pd6662:2004 from the BSIA Tampers for devices are optional on Grade 1 systems, which this may be, but as far as im aware (or at least i thought) were mandatory under 4737... i may be wrong

    Voltage across alarm pair

if you disconnect the wires you might get 5v or 12 or nothing. Its not really a test as such as it would depend on panel and polarity etc. The wires should on a double pole circuit give <100 Ohms if closed >200k if open. Just measuring the panel zone connections with nothing connected isnt...

    Voltage across alarm pair

Not wishing to get dragged in either lol But On a 12v or 5 v panel there is a source and an input, in basic terms the left hand terminal gives 0v and the right hand terminal is expecting to recieve 0v. This (via filtering) is connected to the input stage of the processor, but the processor...

    Eurosec Alarm Expansion

The CP8L will not accept a wireless expander but you could use a standalone receiver and wire it into a spare zone. The CPX and the 490x are the smallest Risco panels that accept a wireless expander.

Euro Meridian Alarm Fault Code - Fault 485 Comms Lost

No 485 comms lost means that keypad has lost comms with the panel, could be a keypad, wiring or panel fault. Id suggest you get someone to look at it.

    Alarm recomendations

Id agree that the old ADE stuff wasnt great but far from the worst. But since honeywell has owned them we get less Accenta's/Optimas back than veritas's.

problem with non standard colours on extension cable

if the cable is flat, and 4 core then usually the ones on the outer edge will be 2 and 5, but you will need to use a meter. Id say the easist thing is to get a spare socket (or the cover from your nte5) and plug in your lead to the disconnected socket. Meter from 2 on the back to each colour...

    optima xm6

the xm has a global tamper so id say its more likly that you have a tamper light on. Ideally you should get in an engineer but as joe said assuming no fuses have been blown ets then a new cable point to point will sort you.
