Just after a little advice. I have a 2 double sockets from a 16mcb on the consumer unit (using 2.5mm). I would like to add a few more sockets to it. Now would it be ok to make this into a complete ring or will a radial be fine? Or would it be better to update the mcb?

Yeah for that money you might get a 70 yr old who does it to make the time go by, but they could always not turn up.

How far is the point you need it dropping off to the corner? As some have large extented arms.

No as i'm putting it outside the kitchen the ground very patchy with diffrent kinds of cement etc and looks very ugly. So if i need to run to get washing in etc will slate be better or even something like pea shingle.

You can change the socket into a FCU and then add sockets after that as it's all protected by the 13amp fuse in the FCU. If this is outside a RCD socket(s) are required but as in garage are not but maybe a good idea. Or you can extend the ring itself.

Get another 2/3 quotes and see what they say, could be you do need one or could be he only does re-wires as cannot be bothered to do fixing type work. Could be that he's trying to scare you.
