thanks third eye. I read over previous posts that you can -ish paint over vinyl paper with vinyl silk emulsion. This sounds a little risky to me! What are your thoughts on this. Presumably it may make a difference if the vinyl paper was flat or textured?

The ceiling was skimmed with plaster back in October. A coat of dulux plaster sealer was recently applied. What is the application for white emulsion as the topcoat. EG Should I still dilute first coat. Should I use paint for new plaster. Thanks

The ceiling is damp stained - but has been certified dry. The artex has never been painted. Can I put dulux stain block plus directly onto the unpainted artex and then emulsion or is there another(correct) procedure. Ta John

I am talking the larch lap panels here. One side has more vertical batons than the other. Assuming it is my fence - is there a right and wrong way round to fit? Ta John

Zampa, is this cuprinol caulk different shades of wood colours (ie oak) or colour colours (ie red!). Have you got any info on this product as I cant find it on thinternet. Who sells it? Ta John

The door is a brand new wickes plastic door. Can this be painted with a coloured gloss. Should it be abraded/undercoated first? - Then what type of paint. The door seems a little flexible to retain paint without cracks appearing!!

The concealed type door closers are mounted mid way between the hinges. The last one I took off by removing 4 screws in the frame was very tricky to get back on cos of the tension. Should I have done this or seperated from the door itself to ease refitting. What is the trick with these to make...

i had experience of this. I came to the conclusion (with help on here) that the first coat went onto a surface which had rubbed down polyfilla dust on it. The first coat was ok but the second (and any others) caused tiny pinhead bubbles. Is this poss in your case?

I papered my living room (Graham and Brown paste the wall). On the chimney breast, the base emulsion was yellow on top half and white on bottom half. Unfortunatlely, I can in certain lights see the colour difference thru the paper !!. I am going to strip and paint the white with fresh yellow...

an elderly friend has had an oven delivered, but, they will not install cos of ply behind the oven (on wall). They suggested covering with tiles. How far above and to the side do i need to tile to be within te regulations. Are there any other options to cover with. Ta John
