By the overflow i assume you mean the pressure relief valve (prv) on the boiler? how high does the pressure go? also your post is incomplete if the prv is letting water out you will lose pressure at some point and have to keep refilling the system is this the case?

the minimum distance above the boiler you can put anything will be in the instructions. (given to you by the installer i hope!) But good practice would be to place it futher away your boiler can take the heat, your tumble dryer probably can't. but kevs right would you stick it on top your...

depends a lot on the boiler some combi boilers don't mind that much. But also most boilers will shut down if low on pressure or overheat and cut off, You might have to face the fact it was a fault waiting to happen. but running it with low pressure probably didn't help.

if the fan fails to run, the air pressure switch will not allow the gas valve to open, you need to follow the start up sequence to find the fault

The basic operation sequence of this boiler is, call for heat ,fan starts, pump starts, diverter directs water flow, air pressure switch senses air flow , gas valve opens,if after 10 secs if no flame green neon goes out. at what point does it stop?

hire a freeze kit Or isolate the small feeder tank in the loft pick any rad below the one you want to work on turn off its valves , drain it off by releasing it from the radiator. If all goes well you should now be able to fit a hose to one of the valves and drain down. Be warned read...

are the three port valve or zone valves open when you fill up. try closing the valves on the rads that work to force the air through. you can try the nice risky way of attaching a hose to the drain drown and very slowly adding mains water (too much too quickly can flood your house)

My view is its just another thing to trip over in the dark after you have been to the pub :) and your probably more likely to put more value on your house if you used the extra room to put a flower display there.
