vokera excell 80sp. Optional vessel kit.

Wasn't aware the expansion vessel was optional! Its inside the boiler already and it is there to accomodate the expansion of water when heated.

    Filling toilet cistern with rainwater

You can get ceramic holesaws, but you'd be a brave boy to give that a try, could very easily end up having to replace the cistern. I do agree that 2 ball valves should be used, however i see no requirement to have more than one check valve, which should be sited on the cold main before the...

    Filling toilet cistern with rainwater

not enough pressure to open check valve perhaps? would think a check valve before the tee on the cold main woulds suffice

Connect WC pan to Underground Soil Pipe

Bit harsh there was it not. if your happy with that standard of work then thats fine, but i would dare you to post those pics on the plumbing forum and watch it get ripped to bits.

Connect WC pan to Underground Soil Pipe

without getting arsey here, do your self a favour. DIG IT UP, DO IT RIGHT! You'll feel even more of a prat when the whole house stinks cos the toilet wont hold a seal and the drain chokes with no access!

Can anyone give me advice on a floor drain.

Cant really see any way around this tbh, other than sorting the levels out. Used to fit a lot of wetfloors when i worked for a high end bathroom company, and we used wediboard every time, but you only really need a gully here and properly graded floor!

Connect WC pan to Underground Soil Pipe

Just to add, love the schoolboy mistake of puting the fittings the wrong way round! And also, and this is quite an important point, it looks like the T is in the wrong way round too, assuming you have taken the photo from the same angle as the one with your door, and the drain runs away from...

Connect WC pan to Underground Soil Pipe

Deary me! Hes made a job of that! Would be extremly tempted to redo that, and i wouldn't say it was beyond the scope of a fairly competant diy'er, but it does baffle me why it was taken underneath then out. Your new toilet will almost certainly be a horizontal outlet so by bringing the...

Connect WC pan to Underground Soil Pipe

Just to check i have the details correct here.... Your drain runs not underneath the building but outside the building? Why dont you just core out a 5' hole through the wall, excavate and connect in a branch to run your toilet to. If the soil is cast, hire a set of snap cutters if your not...

    Boilers - the workings?

nah that'll be an automatic ignition boiler, similar idea to a thermocouple in that a flame sensing device is in a flame to keep the gas on, however this will be in the main flame as opposed to a pilot flame. As i said this is a very basic analysis. Get yourself how to repair combination...

    Boilers - the workings?

New boilers dont use thermocouples, they use automatic ignition. Boiler goes through a sequence, genrally :: PUMP RUNS > FAN RUNS > AIR PRESURE SWITCH PROVES > GAS VALVE OPENS > IGNITION > IGNITION PROVES. Very basicly thats thats it.
