Just been watching rogue traders on sky plus from this Monday (part of Watchdog). Did anyone see it? I think it was so badly put together and the fault on the boiler seemed to CHANGE during the episode!!

try venting with the pump off and also try closing all rads but 1 or all rads and turn pump back on, then try and vent from the open rad of the air vent near the hot water cylinder, if one is there

Tony - you say about a zenner diode, that is electronics surely and far above the knowledge required for the majority of boiler breakdowns?

on the DHW thermistor fault with h/w running hot - cold in that cycle, do you find when you test the thermistor the reading is usually ok, and to test it when the fault just occurs is a bugger?! how do you know I am not gas safe/reg. Agile?

thanks for your reply bengasman. I used to feel the flow and return primary pipes to it but as you say eliminate these 2 is the better way. when you say measure valve coil on GV for correct curve, do you mean check the voltage going to modulating coil is correct, so pcb is sending...

in your opinion - in a combi - what is the best way to make sure the plate heat ex is at fault, ie if the h/w runs hot-cold or lukewarm etc?

i got it off, decided to remove the whole pump, undone 1 union and when undoinbg the bottom union, the head came off!!! but the impeller was snapped off ! i guess it was stiff!

how would a dhw flow switch cause the central heating to cause a boiler overheat?!

when you have hot water from a tap, does the boiler overheat too and lockout?
