    What are you drinking tonight?

Spotted it in Sainsburys this afternoon and realised I'd got it wrong. Wife phoned both sons whilst there to confirm that's what they drank and both, (1 living in Derbyshire and other living in London), said no. They now drink Peroni. They seem to change their drink as often...

    What are you drinking tonight?

Must admit, I don't like the taste of lagers anymore. My two eldest stepsons enjoy this Moretti one and another one, with a red label I think, called something like Aldri.

    What are you drinking tonight?

I'm throwing caution to the wind and having a bottle of Lancaster Bomber. (Well, the oncology diet sheet says a moderate amount of alcohol occasionally, can improve your appetite). ;-)

What could be the fault. Carbon monoxide!

Before we start getting into semantics, can we all agree, the OP needs to get a Gas Safe engineer out as soon as possible to check this all over and declare it unsafe/safe?

    Filling hole and mounting blinds

Are these roller blinds you are trying to fit? You will end up with a big gap in the centre, (25mm-35mm). I would go for a vertical blind that would cover the hole window without any joins/gaps. Depending on the width of your window, you may need to order one of a special length or you may get...

    3 plain grey wires!

What colour are the wires still attached to the light? Are they marked as L N and Earth? Does the light have a label which contains a picture of a square inside another square or say it is Class I or Class II? Can you post a picture of the light fitting showing the cables and a picture of the...

What could be the fault. Carbon monoxide!

Have the stove checked by a GasSafe engineer. Just because you can't detect gas doesn't mean there isn't something faulty. It may be something simple, like lack of ventilation. I wouldn't know as I'm not a gas fitter or gas trained in any shape or form. But that would be my immediate, and I mean...

    Patching up hole

To seal it properly you could get a small piece of plasterboard. Cut it to the shape of the un-painted section of ceiling. Measure carefully the positions of the two pipes and drill corresponding holes in the plasterboard. Then cut the plasterboard lengthwise through the centres of the holes...

What have you been doing today?

Not me doing it but, we are having our loft converted and the builders were waiting on the staircase to be delivered, supposedly today after being delayed a number of times. It was due to come this afternoon so they asked if they could miss coming today as there wasn't much to do before it...

    Bulger murderer denied parole.

As I said earlier. If he hasn't mended his ways in 30 years, what are the chances of him mending them in the next 2 years? He could behave himself in the next 2 years and convince the gullible people, (sorry, parole board), that he has finally realised is mistakes and is no longer a danger. They...

How to re-wire three-way light switch (images)?

On the new switch, they have inserted an extra 1, 2, and 3 into the markings. So, L11 on the first switch is simply the same as L1 on the old switch. (Forget the first number after the L) L12 on new is L2 on the old switch. (Forget the first number after the L) Middle switch is as follows; L21...

Double oven: fan oven tripping fuse

I had a similar problem in the house I have recently moved in to. Fan oven worked, no problem. As soon as we turned the top oven on, (no fan), it would trip the RCD Electrician come out and tested. Said insulation wa low but just within limits. So he ordered two new elements and fitted one. RCD...

    Modifications and insurance

I fitted a tow bar, (well, got a tow bar company to fit it for me), contacted my insurance and they said it's not considered a modification so no premium charge. When I changed my insurance, I declared it and they said the same. Tow bars don't affect your premium.

    Bulger murderer denied parole.

I know they didn't say he could be released in two years. But they have stated he can apply again in two years. Use your common sense and stop being pedantic.

    Bulger murderer denied parole.

Quite correct. I titled it incorrectly because I was so incensed with the idea of him getting another chance in 2 years. Title now corrected.

    Electric wires stud wall

Use the anchors as stated above. When used with the setting tool they are the strongest/safest method. If unsure how to install them watch this short video.

    Bulger murderer denied parole.

And so he should be. But to be able to re-apply in two years is a joke, surely? If 30 years of prison/parole/licence haven't changed him, what on earth makes the parole boar think another 2 years inside is going to? He should be banged up for the rest of his life and stripped of his anonymity...

    Won't Be Using Moonpig Again

I think the charge for sending a standard card is something like £3.95 Postage stamp is still much cheaper, even though their prices are extortionate.

Screwdriver bits - can anyone recommend a decent quality set that's NOT made in china?

I have had a box of Makita PZ2's for about 3 years now and only had to change one tip because I used it on the wrong size screws. Also, make sure you have the drill lined up correctly. A lot of people have the drill at an angle which causes the tip to not sit correctly.

    Walls or floor first

I would do 2. But when you lay the flooring, cut the plywood to leave the pipework exposed. You can then cut separate boards to do the infill over the pipes, which will be clearly visible if you need to remove them. What will you e using for your final floor finish? Sheet vinyl, tiles, carpet...
