Hard wiring a new oven (Ed.)

All electrical work has to be done by a competent person, (not necessarily a qualified person). However, if you are asking on here what size fuse you need without giving any further information, I would say you are not competent to 'hard wire' a cooker in.

    Royal Mail Scandal 2

Royal mail are losing money hand over fist because of the cost of posting letters. They've admitted as much a few years ago by saying letter postage was a loss making sector of the industry and they would be concentrating on parcel(s) delivery. At £1.25 for a standard letter, (going up to £1.95...

Thats the one. Was it the Rialto before a bank, or the other way round?

    Tragic freak death Hockey player

Same here. Saw the news when it first broke and thought, what a tragedy. Will not be looking for the footage or passing opinions on what happened. All I do know, is that has always been classed as a very physical, dangerous sport.

    Drive through cash machines

Nat West tried one in Liverpool back in the 70's. Not for card machines, but an actual teller at the window. It failed miserably and had cars backing up on the main road waiting to use it, instead of parking your car and walking in to the bank.

    Confused about Multitools!

My wife wanted to get me a multi-tool for Christmas, so this morning we went looking at them and I decided on a Makita, (520?), as I already have a couple of LXT batteries and charging stations. Then, as we were walking to the checkout she asked what was I going to build with my new 'toy. And...

    And another confirmed batchelor

The only thing I found when working on someone's house was, a double layer of VHS videos with no labels on them behind the cornice of a built-in and over wardrobe. A double wardrobe each side of the bed with a small dressing table/cupboard between the 'robe and the bed with 3 wide overhead...

Smallest model railway size compatible with model car scale?

Looking at doing a diorama, approximately 4'6" x 2'3" wide. The theme will be a 1950's-60's countryside village and want to combine a small railway line, (not necessarily operable, static will be fine), with model cars that are proportion to each other. Now, if you understand that bit, what size...

Is this really a tonne bag?

Consider yourself luck they didn't throw your claim out, by 'suggesting' you may have used some.

Can you buy a corner fitted gas fire?

Sorry guys, one more question. Do we need a fireproof/heatproof base for the fire to stand on, and if so, any recommendation? We have solid wood flooring, not suspended. Not sure of exact composition of subfloor but know there is wet UHF underneath.

Can you buy a corner fitted gas fire?

What I was thinking/hoping we could do was to mount the fire across the corner, and then run the flue through the wall using, perhaps, a 45º flue bend. Then put a diagonal shelf slightly above it to stand the TV on. I know on a normal gas fire, flued up a chimney, you have to have a backplate...

Can you buy a corner fitted gas fire?

First off, rest assured I WILL NOT be fitting this if such a thing exists. We are looking for a gas fire, mainly as a feature, but also for some background heating. We live in a bungalow and currently have UFH throughout. Which means we have no chimneys/chimney breasts. The only place we could...

Does your car have a dipstick?

I think the actual wording that comes up is, 'Service Tyre Module'. Click the menus button on the stalk and you get a 'plan view of the 4 wheels with the pressures showing at each one. The back left, (or nearside rear to give it the correct terminology), will show 3 little dashes when it's not...

Does your car have a dipstick?

Oh, those were the days! :ROFLMAO: My Zafira has tyre pressure sensors and they are a bloody pain! Not many garages, (even tyre replacement places), have them as a stock item andthose that do sometimes don't they need a re-coder to programme them! My back left one often comes up with a warning...

    zafira nightmare

Look at the simple possibilities first. i.e. it obviously uses hudraulics, so check the fluid tank if full and there are no air-locks. Make sure the fluid hasn't been shaken before filling, I was once asked to get a bottle of brake fluid out the garage for my father-in-law. On the way back I was...

What have you been doing today?

No, I won't be vaping. For one, I can't stand the smell of them and as there are now so many counterfeit ones, you don't know what you are getting in them. I tried e-cigs, (I think they were called), a number of years ago and they are nothing like a real ciggy. Too heavy to hold in your mouth...

What have you been doing today?

Not sure if I would prefer to be in your position. Had a CT body scan this morning and they have found I have cancer in my bile duct. That hit me like a slab of concrete. There are no signs of cancer anywhere else in my body, which is a relief, but they will now refer me to Ipswich hospital who...
