    Is Magnaclean the best?

You will get more muck out of a magnaclean then anything else.

Bath Ideal Waste System really stiff

I have just fitted this bath/waste system in my house, but had no issues with mine. Unortunately to take the trap itself out you either need a special tool or a pair of bent nose pliers to unscrew the plug hole from the tap. I needed to call Ideal out as you know the trap comes sealed from the...

    Masterboard?

Hotrod, just ran the fire for half an hour on hi flame and the front panels only got slightly warm. it appears they have attached the front panel with the 2mm air gap between the firebox and the front face, so this must be what is keeping it cool, so looks like normal gypsum based plaster should...

    Masterboard?

The fire I did, the supalux doesn't actually touch the appliance at all. There is a 2mm 'expansion' clearance between the edge of the board and the frame flanges

    Masterboard?

Hi Hotrod. Well picked up the supalux today for £92.00 and as I was trying to get the board in the van it snapped in two :((( I could have cried. Luckily I still had a bit big enough for what I needed to do. I have included a pic of the fire I am installing, its on 3.5 kw so am just wondering...

    Masterboard?

Thanks for that hot rod, was very helpful, just the one I am fitting is a fair bit different, I will get some pics tonight to show you. Interesting, did you skim the superlux or not bother in the end? I know they don't really advised skimming it because it is like a turbo sponge, but if you do...

    Masterboard?

Thanks for the reply guys, I am going to bite the bullet and go with the calcium silicate board but in 9mm. Would be great to have a look at your pics hotrod. Got a couple of questions: Should I use a high temp silicone adhesive to attach the board to the front of the fire? I spoke to the...

    Masterboard?

Hi, has anyone had any experience with masterboard by promat. I am installing a hole in the wall gas fire and it recommends using this stuff to face the fire front and then to skim over. I have found sheffield insulations do the stuff and they are near me, but its so expensive looking at £100+...

Worcester Highflow 400 RSF is causing me heartache!!

Stop talking absolute s**t. That is not an "easy" fault to diagnose. Sounds like the engineer changed the more likely suspects of both heatexchangers before concluding its was a blocked pipe. You should get off that pedastool you put yourself on.

Programmer with wireless thermostats to control 3 zones

http://www.discountedheating.co.uk/shop/acatalog/Horstmann_7_Day_3_Channel_Programmer_H37.html I am not aware such a product as you described exists. All our large installations incorporate seperate transmitters and receivers.

    Magnaclean - problem?

Adey supplied us with new lid orings and a service kit a couple of years back as the old ones were faulty and did result in spontaneously leaking. But since these have been fitted I have not been to a leaking unit in some time. Maybe you didn't have any returned as they were out of...

    Magnaclean - problem?

True, true, but they did hold a lot of s**t! Every Magnabooster I clean you get a spitful of dirt out, you might as well take the pump out and give it a shake!

    Magnaclean - problem?

Unfortunately we are fitting magnaboosters. Yes they are easier to fit and clean, but they don't do anywhere near as good a job as the magnaclean.

confused on which boiler to choose

I am with you on this one Bengasman. Its seems we have a lot of "theorists" on this thread when as we know what looks good on paper doesn't necessarily translate into real life. 99% of uk homes are not geared up ie underfloor heating, oversized rads, poor insulation, to benefit from the...

confused on which boiler to choose

The Baxi Duo Tec does not break down very regulary, where did you read this? As I say the early ones had a problem with the electrodes but that is now fixed. Personally I only install Worcester, but Vailliant and Viessman are both good as well.

confused on which boiler to choose

Yeah but this was the whole point, luke warm rads are no good to anyone when its -5C outside.

confused on which boiler to choose

Well you could argue your case to the people on the estate who put up with a freezing winter with their heating sometimes deciding to come on and sometimes not. They were rather glad to see the back of it.
