    Vaillant 828e Turbomax

That clunking noise is the automatic bypass on the boiler (small brass valve bottom left of the boiler behind the diverter valve). Vaillant have identified a problem with this and have brought out a modified valve, failing this they have also brought out a modified PCB which stops the pump for...

    Worcester Bosch or Rehema?

I wish I'd never replied to this post. Agreed its not ideal using a salesman rather than an engineer, however, my brother is an installation engineer for BG and they purely use the salesman plans as a guide. It is the engineers themselves that discuss with the customer what would be most...

    Worcester Bosch or Rehema?

Gremlin - Its easy for people to bad mouth BG engineers, cause we take on a lot of installations private contractors wouldn't touch with a barge pole. As for my credibility, I bet I have seen far more breakdowns than you stuck out in you sheep shagging communities.

    Worcester Bosch or Rehema?

What world are you in gremlin16, cause it can't be the heating world. You must clearly work for Rehema or have some sort of deal going with them. Worcester Bosch (Okay and Vaillant) are by far the most reliable boilers on the market. Their build quality is excellent. The Greenstar range...

    ideal isar 24he problem

I've had the exact same problem before and change the cartridge, and in the end the whole unit. What it was in the end was the red and black actuator head. At rest the diverter valve will do heating. However for water it needs to push the cartridge pin in. Have you tried doing this...

Potterton Suprima 60L fault please help

Sorry fella, sounds like you need a new PCB, its got the exact symptons. Do a search for Suprima PCB and you will know what I mean. Its a well known fault with the boiler.

can a non condensing boiler be moved?

We dont move boilers full stop, you have to buy a shiny new one from us! However I enjoy doing it in my spare time, just moving an ideal classic to under the stairs at the minute, told them they would be nuts to get rid of it. Like someone said as long as you can still get the flue or use the...

    netaheat no main burner lighting

Sorry guys but I think you will find the mk1 vapour switch is completely different to the mk2. The mk1 requires stripping the gas valve and is a complete nightmare to fit. Potterton learnt their lessson on the mkII and made it a 3 pin connector, but the two are incompatible.

Controller connections, changing from Danfoss to Honeywell

Its ok, the Honeywell can cope with anything from 24v to 240v, besides the unit is battery powered all you are providing is the switch from the boiler output (Ls) to the boiler return (Lr). It doesn't use the boiler output to power and run the clock and all its functions, this is done by the...

Ideal boiler won't strike up on either heating or water

One of the most reliable boilers you can get. Only thing that ever goes on these is the Fan, and even then you can usually get that going with some WD40. You will still get a humming noise from it but it will be seized. I think you are mistaken with your valve operation. It should be if...

    Drayton TRV vs Homebase TRV

Don't know what that "Eberle" thing is your talkin about, but agree Honeywell controls are excellent also.

    Drayton TRV vs Homebase TRV

Not a fan of Terrier, they feel cheap, not as solid as Drayton, which is strange as at one time Pegler were regarded as the best radiator valves you could get, but then again it is their entry level TRV. I am biassed mind, BG only use Drayton controls, but then again there is a reason for that...

    netaheat no main burner lighting

Sounds like you mercury vapour switch is up the swanny. On the mkII this has a 3 pin plug that plugs into the gas valve. As the pilot heats the phial it expands the mecury into vapour, which in turn expands down the capilary tubes pushing open the gas valve allowing full gas to the burner...

    Faulty Worcester

Should of stayed with us! No I understand we are expensive, but BG do have massive overheads which unfortunately have to be passed on to the customer. What was the quote for the vertical flue? What Worcester is it?

    Ferroli Combi CH not working....

If you wanted to confirm it you could buy the sensor and not necessarily install it, but you could still unplug the old one and plug in the new one. The thermistor doesn't have to be in water in order for it to bring the boiler on. If it works great then you can worry about draining the boiler...

    Ferroli Combi CH not working....

Just been looking at sequence of operation: External call for heat, ie thermostat turned up will cause pump to run Then the following needs to be satisifed before the fan will run: 1)CH flow temp sensor 2)Boiler thermostat calling 3)88oC high limit stat not reached If all these are...

    Central heaing programmers (centroller3000)

Sorry fella, just been reading up on this and it uses its own "electronic" sensors which must never be wire to mains, therefore you cant change one without the other. Interesting I have never seen this before however Honeywell do a similiar system called "Smartfit" which I am a big fan off...

    Drayton TRV vs Homebase TRV

Drayton are the dogs, Homebase own brand are what come out of dogs and if you can't be bothered to leave your house screwfix do them at a reasonable price.
