    Woodburner water heating system(unconventional )

I'll be fitting a woodburner with back boiler v soon and have some ideas for the system I'd like the experts to comment on please. It's a little unconventional but I think it's quite simple and should work. The house already has a oil fired rayburn which does the CH and HW which will be left as...

    Coverting Y-plan to S-plan ???

I'd love a new boiler and I even put a pair of 28mm pipes for as and when the need arises but I'm on oil and have poor mains water pressure which means a gas combi is not an option

    Coverting Y-plan to S-plan ???

So I guess use a stat to power the motorised valve and use the mechanical switch inside the valve to turn on the pump is the way to do things ?

    Coverting Y-plan to S-plan ???

Agile I appreciate your comments and as I stated it's not ideal to run a UFH system from the rads but in my particular situation it was the most practical way of adding 2 small ufh zones to predominately rad heated areas and it does work OK. I do have another larger ufh zone 12ft x 12ft with...

    Coverting Y-plan to S-plan ???

When I looked into running the underfloor circuits separately I was told to fit a blending valve from the existing boiler flow/return then another pump and a motorised valve. The room stat sends a signal to the valve to open then the switch in the valve turns on the pump. Not sure you'd need...

    Coverting Y-plan to S-plan ???

I've heard all the theory about underfloor temps and yes the ideal way to do it is with a large flow of cooler water to heat the slab quickly up to desired temps without overheat but the same effect can be acheived by reducing and controlling the flow of hotter water

Bathroom re-fit – Order of work

Just doing mine and as I'm not very confident of my plumbing skills I trial fitted the loo, basin, bath , rad and shower made sure they all worked and then removed them and tiled the floor and shower. You should tile around the bath after it's fitted but put your vinyl down first

    Coverting Y-plan to S-plan ???

I have just put in 3 underfloor heated zones in my extension hooked up to the existing system without separate pump and blender as it was too complex to separate completely. These are useful for the purpose http://www.heatingcontrolsonline.co.uk/danfoss-randall-fjvr-sensor-p-247.html I...

    Coverting Y-plan to S-plan ???

My problem with pump overrun is it goes on for a long long time making noise and burning electricty so heat dump is necessary in my case with a rayburn

    Rayburn overheating (again)

Thanks for the reply I guess I'm on S plan with 2 motorised valves. I think the original kitchen rad was hooked up in parallel to the bypass but I can't remember whether it got hot when I turned on the hot water only. I haven't finished fitting the new rads yet so maybe I can connect a rad...

    Rayburn overheating (again)

Hello Experts I have a Rayburn 480k oil burner and after I had the tank, pump and pipes moved due to house extension work the plumber forgot to hook up the kitchen radiator which was from memory plumbed differently I guess for heat soak. The problem I now have is that after the boiler has been...
