Salus RT500RF Thermostat to Vokera Compact Help Please!

Correct, all that is between COM and NC is a switch basically. I think they could be volt free on the Vokera anyway, I could be wrong. James.

What Does The kW Rating Of A Radiator Tell you?

Remember that radiators were and still are if I'm not mistaken sized so that they are installed as top and bottom opposite ends (TBOE). Where the flow enters a top connection on the radiator and the return is at the bottom on the opposite end. Even though you can do a thorough calculation to...

Salus RT500RF Thermostat to Vokera Compact Help Please!

Pass, maybe they don't know what they are doing. You need a power supply for the receiver, this way it is also fused from the power supply inside the boiler. James.

    12/18 greenslave lockout

My point is why swap parts when you haven't diagnosed the problem. It would be like in your job, if a plane doesn't fly, you wouldn't just go out and replace a whole wing when it could be the engine. I see it all the time where people who have the word 'engineer' in their job description...

    12/18 greenslave lockout

Have you tried hiring a heating engineer who knows about oil boilers rather than guessing with a mate and just part swapping? Have you diagnosed the fault and if so how? If you can't remove a simple solenoid from an oil pump I think that you'd better leave it to the correct type of engineer...

    Blocked heating pipe

If it is plastic, it will not make much difference whether its barrier or non barrier. In the past I've ripped out plenty of barrier plastic pipe in 15mm and 22mm, yet the copper they were connected to were usually clean! The pipe gets hot, yet there is a blockage, sounds odd with the pipe...

    hot water cylinder

If anything it will most likely have better heat recovery, reduced standing heat loss with the added safety of a Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve. James.

    Hot water not shutting off

The valve is stuck in the open position. What I do when faced with this is isolate the electrical supply to the heating. Test that the supply is isolated. Remove the valve head cover (tiny screw at opposite end of lever). I then remove the motor head from the valve body (x2 screws). If you are...

    Hot water not shutting off

Usually the motorised valve has a lever (used for manual override). With no demand for hot water, check the lever to see if it moves freely if at all. Whilst you at the the valve, if you can, take a photo of it and post it on here. FYI a the boiler you have is a condensing boiler (usually...

And shall we diagnose the situation before random part swapping? James.

    Hot water not shutting off

First of all your heat only boiler is not a combination boiler. Sorry to be the one to break the news. Usually when this happens it's a sticking motorised valve (could obviously be something else). Do you know what your motorised valve(s) look like? James.

Has anyone got a bad word to say about Vaillant?

I've inherited an old Worcester 230. This is due to change shortly for an Intergas. Worcester are nothing like they used to be mainly due to many plastic parts prone to failure. Many people like Vaillants, but you ask the customer once they've had to pay for a repair on a failed neoprene hose...

    Balanced flue

Section 7 in the installation manual (Flues) state that only Worcester products must be used. I couldn't find anything mentioning that fabricated flues could be used. With the lack of knowledge and experience you have shown, please do not attempt to install the boiler, flue and oil tank. A...

    Balanced flue

Only flues recommended by the boiler manufacturer must be used. If you are getting a chap round, let them advise of what flue is required. James.
