    Builder overcharging?

No cowboys exist everywhere, buts shows like cowboy builders make the people think we are there to rip you off which we are not. When asked if you had to had to get them back, your answer sounds like you believe all tradesmen overcharge. There is nothing anybody can do to or say to change your...

OK so you didn't have a clue this is why you should get quotes then you can see what is a fair price. A fair price might not be the cheapest they could be saying that to get in and then hit you with extras say it happens and the dearest is most always the best go for a price in the middle and...

Yep and any discrepancy will not show also here is a couple of videos show how skirting is done and marked out ignore the saw it's more the hand tools hand saw and coping saw are used to follow your profile after doing the mitre for the internal corner. No ogee and bead looks like this http://www.ezeebuild.co.uk/resource/products/2635/88411d73.jpg Or just an ogee https://www.wrp-timber-mouldings.co.uk/moulding/60/in_cat/architraves

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

For doing your facing you don't need any fancy angle devices. Don't know if you are fitting base blocks but I would to make life easier at the junction of the skirting and facings. For your facings start by cutting your legs roughly 100mm longer than needed and also cut your head 100mm longer...

    Builder overcharging?

I blame shows like cowboy builders. Maybe there should be a show called customers from hell. Erika would be perfect. I want you to do this that and and the next things. I don't want to give you that. I want to give you peanuts. I'm sorry put pay peanuts you get a monkey.

    Plasterboard/Trusses or Wall Moved?

45 x 70 and concrete screws you suggest fixed at 500 mm but no more than 600 mm. I would strongly advise to get the rest of the bracing done quickly to give rigidity to the roof quickly. The roof has to be all tied together to reach it strength I know it can be a pain when insulating but I would...

    Plasterboard/Trusses or Wall Moved?

I would imagine the foundations are ok when a house is first built in the first couple of years it settles and sometimes you can get little stress fractures as long as you can't see cracks on the outside wall then I wouldn't worry to much I think the problem is more to do with the roof not being...

    Plasterboard/Trusses or Wall Moved?

Just looking at your pictures there is a couple of issues I notice the distance the first ceiling joist to the gable wall is too great. The plasterboard sheet can fly past the joist 50mm but not 200mm. If you fix a timber to the wall with a bit of dpc between the timber and block then screw the...

Do I need planning permission for a loft conversion

Exactly I do this for a job and even if I get stuck or unsure of something a quick phone call to explain it usually helps I've never known any expert been unwilling to give advice and guidance. A lot of engineers specialize in one part of engineering and even they will ask or look up how it's...

    Re-felting shed

No it should be fine to put felt back on it will still dry out I would also put some straps on as well so the felt don't blow off. Also depending on your neighbour's and how secure the area is maybe leave the door open to dry it out. Up in scotland we put sarking boards when the roof is getting...
