    Soil pipe problem

Hey I'm always up for a challenge.. :D yes, offsetting it to the left would be an option... and probably the simplest, but as Richard said its going to look messy.... I'm going to have to decide whether to get the waste pipe coming out as far left as I can, so it lines up with the...

    Soil pipe problem

LMAO @ Richard..... Yes, I'm a DIYer, but I didn't do the existing pipework... Honest...!! If anything I'm trying to improve on it.... Jayne, we have a sloping roof to an extension on that side of the house, and the waste would come out just about on the roof-line....already thought...

    Soil pipe problem

When I say "stand off a couple of inches", I mean they're not like copper fittings, where the 2 ends of pipe effectively touch... with soil pipe fittings like these: joined together the socket on the branch sticks out 3 inches, and the radius of the elbow means that the pipe coming in...

    Soil pipe problem

The main problem is that the wall behind the new WC comes half way through the stack... if I tee'd off it directly through the wall half the waste pipe would be chased into the wall... ... so it will have to go through the wall at an angle and then, as you say, be adjusted with a couple of...

    Soil pipe problem

Thanks for your replies Jayne and Richard... The drawing is fairly accurate, looking down from the top... the left edge of the WC waste will be roughly level with, or next to, the right edge of the stack. Looking at all the connectors, they won't connect pipes that close, they all stand off...

Ok, an update... Sealant arrived yesterday... Taps arrived today...!!!!!!!!!! :D as did the rest of the bathroom furniture I ordered 3 days ago... ...strange how one company can send a pallet load in 3 days, but another company takes 6 weeks for a medium parcel..... But now one...

Reasonable cost for new consumer unit?

I did wonder about the need for a whole new unit, and whether he could just protect the bathroom with an RCD. He did ring his boss, (conveniently while I was in earshot?) asking about if he did the bathroom work, would he just have to test that, or the whole house circuit, which his boss...

Reasonable cost for new consumer unit?

Yes, under the bath, and the bath panel will be secured by screws.

Reasonable cost for new consumer unit?

Yes Malc, as the existing cable already runs from the consumer unit up into the bathroom, and it will become redundant, we agreed that he should use that for the bath and shower. I think hes going to feed it into a main isolator, then split it into 2 feeds, one each for the bath and shower, I...

Reasonable cost for new consumer unit?

OK, heres the current box, yes ricicle its a Wylex with red buttons. He said the bathroom work would take 1-2 hrs, the new consumer unit would mean it went to a days work. We currently have a 9.5 Kw electric shower which will be superceded by the 250W Aqualisa and 750W whirlpool...
